Have we not had ITK suggesting that we would look to bring in a replacement if Trippier or Aurier were sold? It was a massive weakness last season -- Liverpool's very first action was to send a ball down the left channel for good reason -- and I can't see us leaving it unaddressed if we're able to raise funds by selling Tripps or Aurier.

This was Herc's latest on the RB situation:

20th June 2019

The talk is, we are prepared to pay a realistic fee for the RB that meets Poch’s criteria, but forget even spending some of the figures mooted we would ‘have to pay’. Trippier has a lot of interest from suitors, and whilst we would ‘listen’ to offers for Aurier, my personal take on him, is I wouldn’t be surprised if he is still here.

KWP is the interesting one, because Poch really likes him and his attitude, and pre-season will be key subject to formation experiments we will be introducing. It is possible we see if we have the answers within to solve the RB issues.

I’m hoping AWB loved our stadium so much (as revealed in a recent interview), he is willing to put pressure on CP to sell him to us.

£70m though - that’s probably double what he’s worth! Crazy money. If we can sell one of Trippier or Aurier, we should try to do a deal for £40m.. with the help of AWB and his agent.

Not a chance in hell they drop £30m just because he wants to come to us

I think Aurier has got more to come and, like most, am also baffled by KWP's lack of game time so I'd be all for moving Trippier on (and using the money where it's most needed) and passing on AWB at this price.

See how they both perform in pre-season/start of season and then seeing what's left in the coffers if necessary in August.

Does the window not close before the season starts now? We can't leave it that late. The issue with KWP is that he isn't strong physically and he isn't exceptionally quick. He has great technical ability but you need more than that to play at RB

I don't see an issue with leaving it until the day before the season starts. If an RB came in at the start of pre-season it's a maximum of a month.
If he came in on the 8th August instead I'd like to think we could cope with Aurier and KWP until he was ready.

Except that each time we bring in players that late on there are ALWAYS excuses raised about the player in question not having had a proper preseason.

No. He's worth that to CP since they don't need to sell and will have one of the best full backs in the league next season.

You’re missing the point. He’s not worth £70m, they estimate he’s valuation as £70m, which are 2 different things. In other words, he’s not worth £70m until they agree a fee with another club of £70m.

With necessary pressures from the player & his agent, I think CP would agree a fee way lower than £70m. I can see him moving for around £50m somewhere, although I’d say that’s still £10m too expensive.

He’s only worth £70m when someone’s prepared to pay £70m..

There's only a handful of clubs that could do that and they're all under close scrutiny. Utd would seem to be in prime position but they're baulking at CP's price, and CP really don't need to sell. I don't think we'd go near him under the circumstances.

Crazy money. He's older yet not as good as Alexander Arnold which values AA at around £100m.

He may turn out to be a star but we can't be chucking silly money around and keeping our fingers crossed.

Best thing for him is to stay another year, absolutely no rush for him to go anywhere.

Is there any particular reason this thread keeps getting bumped?

There’s been no news on him and it’s pretty obvious we’re not going to present Palace with a figure capable of opening some sort of serious discussion with them.

I guess it’s boredom induced by the empty hole that is Spurs transfer activity these days?

Surely Woy would fancy Trippier in exchange for AWB. Trips might fancy it as he can stay in London.

Would we be prepared to pay £30-40m and Trippier?
