Spot the difference.

26th February 2012:
Lose 5-2 away at what somebody on COYS calls The Death Star :) . A 2-0 lead evaporates and precipitates a meltdown that becomes the stuff of nightmares.
Third in the table with 53 points from 26 games. Seven points ahead of the Goons in fourth and Chelski in fifth.

26th February 2013:
Win 3-2 away in darkest east London after going 2-1 down.
Third in the table with 51 points from 27 games. Two points ahead of Chelski in fourth and four ahead of the Goons in fifth.

The same position in the table with a similar points total, and the teams below us are closer. But I have a completely different feeling about this year. I'm not going to be telling anybody to mind any gaps, but I can't help thinking that we will be a lot happier at the end of this season than we were last May.

I'm starting to think that Chelsea will finish outside the top 4 and Arse will make it once again.

Every game is a must win from now. One defeat or draw and complacency can get the better of you. One game at a time starting with the goons on Sunday. Lets bring the house down

Didn't realise it was a year since that defeat to the gooners. It really did cripple our season.

I think the manner of the win against West Ham will have lifted the entire squad. That and the decisive late goals against Lyon will give the team confidence that we're never beaten until the final whistle. We're going into the NLD on a massive high, and if we can beat them I'm convinced we can finish the season in style. Coming up to the last 10 games and I feel that we're only just about to hit full stride.

I might be tempted to say that when we are seven points clear with two games left!

Don't fuckig say it!! Some wierd UEFA ruling will come into place allowing only the top 2 into the CL.

You're right. I didn't say it last year and won't say it this year - even when the season is finished.

Didn't we win the Carling Cup on this day also? When we beat Chelsea? 26th Feb = London derby day.

So, basically we are 2 points worse off having played a game more, compared to last season.

I'm taking nothing for granted. Few things can hurt me like our team when things go wrong, few things give me such joy when things go right.

I hope to have a good feeling at the end of the season. Not before.

True. But if it makes you feel better, a win on sunday will put us on the same points (54) as we had after 29 games (ie the same points having played one fewer than a year ago). Don't forget we're entering last year's slump period; if we keep picking up points we'll pull ahead of where we were.

2012-13
Games played Points

27 53
28 53
29 54
30 55
31 58

EDIT: sorry there's no spacing on the numbers; it doesn't post it correctly.

its so crucial we keep that momentum and rest some of the players like Dembele who looks a little spent right now
