World Cup Discussion Thread - Day 5 (18 June)

Agreed. But both aren't quite good enough. With a Modric or even Kante in there, England could win this world cup. With Henderson or Dier in there, our limitations will prove too great.

Henderson did OK but I'd drop him for RLC.

    The making of Christian Eriksen

Nice analysis. In this respect, he's also like Carrick. Inconspicuous and calm but massively effective. I've started to notice that Erikson tackles like Carrick - sort of ghosting in from an intelligent angle and nicking or blocking the ball, rather than tearing around like a headless chicken...

Spurs interest in Grealish makes sense

Young exciting British talent? He's worth £40m and he'll prove it somewhere else if we don't get him.

Spurs interest in Grealish makes sense

He'd be understudy to Winks. A good buy, in my opinion.

Roberto Carlos: Dele Alli has the 'swagger' of a Brazilian

Nice comments. But the player Dele reminds me of most is Eric Cantona, a Frenchman.

de Ligt delivers update on his future

We should make a stunning bid for him.

    Marcus Edwards

That doesn't seem to be working. He could use a role model like Messi by the sounds of it.

    Marcus Edwards

I don't buy all this negativity about the 'pressure' of being compared to a brilliant footballer. I'd LOVE to be known as the new Messi.

    What's the difference between a £48m bid and a stunning £48m bid?

KEANO: 'THIS IS THE ONLY CLUB WHERE I REALLY FEEL AT HOME'

Different times because Kane is different class. He'd score a ton of goals in any team.

Bale willing to cut pay for Spurs return

True - but they'd be passing the ball like a thunderbolt to the goal ;)

    Gareth Bale

Oh well, we had Kean(e) and Bale for a while ;)

    Gareth Bale

I'd rather have Bale, Erikson and Son off Kane. Powerful shots raining in from all angles.

    Champions League 2017-18

Nonsense. Liverpool lost their talisman to injury, hit the post, restricted Madrid to hardly any chances, and were undone by an absolute worldy and two ludicrous goalkeeping errors. It was a strange game, but no-one can say Liverpool didn't show up and perform.
