    Nice analysis. In this respect, he's also like Carrick. Inconspicuous and calm but massively effective. I've started to notice that Erikson tackles like Carrick - sort of ghosting in from an intelligent angle and nicking or blocking the ball, rather than tearing around like a headless chicken...

    Nonsense. Liverpool lost their talisman to injury, hit the post, restricted Madrid to hardly any chances, and were undone by an absolute worldy and two ludicrous goalkeeping errors. It was a strange game, but no-one can say Liverpool didn't show up and perform.
