Terrible news about Elena Baltacha dying of Liver Cancer aged just 30.
What i found incredible was she only retired in November due to injury and wasn't diagnosed until just January this year and already this terrible disease has claimed her young life.
Truly awful.
RIP Elena
He's wimped out of tackles all season lomg and today was disgraceful, deliberately getting out of the way of a ball (poorly hit at that) in a wall. He's all about self preservation and in footballing terms lacks any sort of courage.
Won't shed a tear to see him go.
Re Benteke and Rodrigues, IMHO we shouldn't be looking to sign any player who has just had such a bad injury, nobody knows how these players will come back.
They are both really bad injuries, i hope they both fully recover and find the form and fitness they had before, but we shouldn't be...
The 'shift and shoot' comments that people offer up is pretty weak to say the least, not sure exactly but i think Defoe has something like 250 career goals, if people think he's go that many through 'shifting and shooting' they are pretty naive.
Some harsh words in here seeing as he played on through the injury on Saturday to help us get the 3 points even though he must have been making the injury worse, i really respect that.
I feel sorry for the lad.
There's a lot of mistaking being a bad loser with sulking day to day about your lot.
Mourinho is just a rank bad loser but he's competitive as fuck, it's a different type of sulking to what you see from Vertonghen.
The spirit in our team isn't so bad, we are winning games and in the last few games we've come from 2-0 down to win and 3-0 dow to draw, i don't think you do that with no spirit.
1) winners don't sulk, Vertonghen does, that tells me he isn't a winner at the highest level. Of course he has something about him to have reached the level he has, but something more is required when it gets really tough out there, imho he doesn't have it. If he was the most natural tennis...
He's 27 not 17, he has no doubt been affected by tactical decisions and by the fact other personnel at times haven't been up to it. But he should have been doing a lot better himself, some of his positional play especially has made me cringe at times. As for set-pieces i think it's just a fact...
Some players have clearly developed and other players not surprisingly haven't, when players hit a certain age they don't improve much more technically and of course physically either, obviously experience, know how and familiarity with team mates etc becomes the improvement.
I look at players...
Lol yes, in the Premier League era.
Weird that such a horror of a season could equal our best ever points haul and be our second closest finish to top.
Strange how these things work sometimes.
