You can’t stand your ground when you’re jumping with your arms above your head. Just not how it works.

Brilliant that we’ve got a situation where referees ignore fouls because VAR can overturn them, and VAR ignores fouls because the referee chose to allow them.

    2023/24 - The Race For..................

That’s a silly hypothetical because we have everyone fit and in form about once every four years. Even the start of the season when we were good we had no Bentancur, and Richarlison horribly out of form.

    Dier or Dawson?

That’s a bit misleading because they rotated from the start. They had Batshuayi up front where we had Kane. We also had Walker on the bench - and could’ve had Son as an impact sub if we hadn’t randomly used him as a wingback.

    Spurs Youth Thread 23/24

IIRC we had something like this with Swindon 2010-2014ish, though that might have just been Sherwood’a contacts as it stopped pretty much immediately when he left. And going back another decade, I think ENIC owned some foreign clubs too, don’t remember us doing much business with them though.

Foden had thirty-five senior appearance for City before he turned nineteen, ten of which were starts. I don’t think Donley had has thirty-five whole minutes of senior football yet, having just turned nineteen. So Foden isn’t really a fair comparison.

    I think so, unlikely though.

Ipswich’s starting striker is now out injured. Recalling Scarlett starting to look like a poor decision…

We need someone whose job it is to tell the manager no when he tries this. Awful, awful move for a player’s development to keep them around without giving them proper playing time.

    Eric Dier

If Dier does go to Bayern, it’s hard not to imagine Kane being a major factor. Do Bayern need to keep him happy? Why? And did Kane advocate for Dier to start when he was here?

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

I’m convinced this was the reason for Van de Ven’s injury, given the massive delay before Romero’s red card. Maybe Maddison’s too? Not sure about any of the others though.

    Team vs Burnley (FA Cup)

Vicario Porro - Dorrington - Davies - Udogie Kulusevski - Bentancur - Lo Celso Johnson - Donley - Richarlison

That’s right, our first signing in 2014/15, jointly with Vorm. Will almost certainly hit ten years this summer, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him retire here.

Player Watch Player Watch: Ben Davies

A superb professional and now our longest-serving player.* *Longest-serving by date he joined the club. Dier made his competitive debut a few days earlier. Also excluding academy players, such as Skipp who's been here since 2008.

Think Lo Celso was shouting at him from the touchline saying that. Players on the pitch maybe too caught up in the match to notice as it was getting intense?

Another iffy game, another assist. Continuing to show great pace, smart movement, and a fantastic range of accurate crosses.

Player Watch Player Watch: Giovani Lo Celso

I think Gio’s one of those players who struggles off the bench. Never looks as composed or skilled as he does when he starts.

Player Watch Player Watch: Pape Sarr

I think one underrated aspect of Sarr’s game is how he enables Porro. So many times he was covering that right-back area, which meant Porro could get forward and create, or even get into the box to take shots.

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

The idea behind the season being a write off is that it’s a time to learn new systems, blood new players, and build for the future. Choosing Davies, Dier, and Hojbjerg today - and Lo Celso from the bench - goes completely against that. Why use players who have no future here ahead of the...

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

We lost the game because we had no control in possession or threat going forwards. That’s not on Dier, that’s on the whole team.
