He's been better than Bissouma, Sarr and Bentancur this season.
Sarr I think has the scope to improve, and at his best has been great this season, but neither Bissouma or Bentancur have been consistent enough IMO.
I'm not saying I'd shift them all out or that Gallagher is the only answer, but...
There are still some glaring gaps in the squad which, if we sort it out, will massively help Ange next season.
We need a striker.
We need better wide-man options.
We need more strength in depth in key areas such as full-back and attacking midfield.
And I don't even know what we need to do...
It's useful to read this thread to try and keep your own comments in check.
There are lots who peruse this thread and laugh at opposition fans before going to the next thread and whinging that every ref since the dawn of time has got it in for Spurs.
As you say, every club has them.
I've been an open critic of PEH but he helped bring the game under control yesterday after Sarr and Bissouma seemed to completely lose the plot after about 20 minutes.
Not the long term answer but he did what he needed to yesterday.
He's old school football but in a good way.
A proper pro but one who clearly understands the modern game.
His mentality as a player suggests he'll make a good coach, and I hope he's able to translate that into management.
Southgate made the England team matter again which was a massive achievement considering the shambles we'd had since Venables.
Bur we now have one of the best selection of available players in the world. Winning tournaments should be an expectation not a hope.
And I don't think Southgate can...
We desperately need him fit and firing again.
IMO we need someone who can dictate the pace of the game with his passing and not just athleticism and he seems the best cut out to do that with Biss not hitting the heights right now.
We all want instant success, particularly after the dross we were served up in the Conte and Mourinho eras.
But it's precisely because of the failings, basically since the Champions League final, that we have to give Ange time.
Performances like yesterday are unacceptable, and Ange has to take...
Superb try from Grady but doesn't cover over a lot of Welsh cracks.
Huge credit to North. A superb player and a talisman for Wales for much longer than you'd expect for a back.
Mind you that 40 was a proper low for Wales. Italy will probably be a bit disappointed not to be further ahead as surely Wales have to improve in the second half?
Italy have been pretty good in this tournament.
Wales seem to only be able to play well for about 20 minutes in each game.
Would love to see Italy win this.
I like that team.
Also good that we've finally got some players who can come off the bench and make a difference.
Tough one today but I think that's the right team for the job.
