He's got to get rid of Jedinak. It's been diabolical all year, but to show up defending set pieces again like this with 15 days of training is just unacceptable.
Christ, this is dull. Another one of these matches where Ange doesn't seem to be able to coach a plan B. Surely you tell the fullbacks to stop inverting against a defense setting up like this? Reminds me of the Sheffield United match, took 90 minutes to finally make that change and it paid off...
Just no plan B ever from Ange unfortunately. Commendable to stick to one style as a starting point no matter the opposition, but when it's not working you need to be able to make adjustments.
This level of intensity/pressing is not sustainable for more than maybe 30-35 minutes before the team tires and either has to sit off or is seriously at risk of getting picked off on a break. We need to convert a chance or two before that point, inside the 18 it's been absolutely awful. Outside...
I'm not asking for personnel changes. I just think it was fairly obvious that the correct way of playing the situation up two men was having fullbacks overlap and hug the touchlines, not having them both inverted into the most congested part of the pitch when our two wingers were already...
Not to put a damper on a good outcome, but I was really disappointed with the lack of a plan B today. At 11v9 in particular, it was painful to watch us try the exact same attacking pattern over and over again, whilst ignoring the very obvious path to success of having the fullbacks overload the...
Quality outing today...he has more end product than Solomon for sure, albeit think at this stage in his career he's more of an impact option.
Also interesting that he took over set piece duties and got the assist from the corner.
Richy getting a game tying goal and game winning assist after getting subbed on by Ange following the mental health press masterpiece is amazing. Loving the vibes at Spurs right now, I think only parts of the Poch era and Redknapp days compare in the last 15 years.
I just cannot understand the level of vitriol against Hojbjerg. It's quite sad to see. He has his shortcomings as a player in certain systems, but he always gives 100%, is clearly liked within the squad, carries himself well. Wouldn't blame him at all for wanting to leave getting this kind of abuse.
I think Gallagher would be absolutely monstrous in a Ange system, where despite a different skillset to Maddison, he could very well fill either that most advanced role as a #10 (but more in the Dele mold than Madders) or the Bentancur/Sarr role - he has limitations, but let's not forget he was...
