I can’t remember the original plans now it was that long ago! So the delay might have been for the best in the long run anyway. Especially if the NFL agreement (and incorporation into the stadium), for example, was something that was only thought of much later
Also worth remembering that the stadium project would have progressed significantly quicker had it not been for obstacles such as the Archway Sheet Metal. We lost at least 5 years on planning objections / refusals to sell and could have been in this strong financial position much sooner
I actually don't remember the club/Ange giving any real indication on length of possible absence. I might be wrong. But as far as recall it was always very vague comments like "looks like a bad one" and from there people assumed a 5-6 week absence for themselves.
Do Man City really have equal level replacements to their starting Xi, across all positions? If Haaland got injured for any length of time - or Rodri, would they maintain their levels? I'm not so sure. The Goons definitely don't have that depth.
So yes, it comes down to how lucky we are...
Agree with this. And particularly strange when the words of one of the longest standing Spurs songs is "We don't care what the other teams say".
I like how people thought they could laugh at us because our stadium is shaped a bit like a toilet bowl. Until they realised its the best stadium...
Nobody is paying the amount DL wants if their focus is only to develop into the UK market.
Edit: to clarify, this would be a global play which football is almost uniquely able to give.
I’d say we failed to keep up with paying the money needed to get the best talent. I’m not sure any of ours didn’t make it through bad development or pathway, rather than they just weren’t good enough in the first place.
Exactly that. They can't really do any more to prove themselves without going out on loan. They boss the only level available to them at the moment (PL2) and are the best in their positions and age groups in the country hence their England age group call ups. Sometimes players need a loan to...
In all honesty, our best youth players are probably just a year too young at the moment as we had a talent void which is slowly being filled but has left us with nobody of the right talent level at the 20-21 age bracket imo. However, even if those we have are slightly too young, there's...
Those stats and any comparison are completely meaningless without knowing the context of the passes attempted.
I’m More to an happy to judge with my own eyes and conclude he was a horrible passer of the ball. That’s when he even could even control it in the first place. How many times did he...
And yet you can see from your own graphic why that might be. Far fewer forward passes. Anyone can have pass accuracy if you’re passing 5 yards sideways.
Can't imagine a better time for an 18 year old to make his debut for us. It's a playing ethos without blame as long as you try the right things. And the fans will be right behind them in a way they wouldn't have been had this come during the toxic times of Mourinho or Conte.
And to be...
As I said in another thread, Ledley was only a little bit old than Dorrington and Phillips when he made his debut. We never sent him out on loan.
Philips is actually ahead of him in terms of development with, his albeit few, games in the championship. But he and Dorrington are both equally...
This is really great news.
no limping along with players who have no future and who, if they are ever needed, are going to hamper Ange’s style of play.
it forces us to accelerate our youth development - something which we used to be great at - and hopefully create our own 50m plus CBs...
