I'm sure Levy would love CL revenue, but Ange has already signaled that a CL campaign for an unready squad has its drawbacks.

Our cup performances this season were drab, so I'm not bothered about which euro competition we end up in....it depends on whether we're bothered to compete for it.

And some recent results and performances suggest we've got plenty to work on and a europa campaign might not be the worst outcome for squad development.

Our record against City, Pool and Arsenal this season doesn’t indicate we’d be out of our depth in CL. We’ve footed it with these teams this season and we’ll be stronger next season.
I look at Dortmund and Atletico, and i think that 11 Vs 11 there isn't that much difference between them and us.

I don't mind being in the Europa League but I do mind Villa getting UCL. I think that would be a huge windfall for them and will make them considerably stronger.

I think it only makes them stronger if they build on it. One season won’t make a huge difference. How many times have we been in the Champions League and thought now we’re going to push on and haven’t?

But I think regularly qualifying for Europe will make them stronger over time.

They could fall flat like Newcastle did though. Yes I know they beat us handsomely last week, but the Champions League took its toll on them and they weren't ready for it at all. Could be the same for Villa. Nobody knows yet.

After such a positive start, I can’t help but feel disappointed with how it looks like it’s going to end. The Udogie news together with our poor away form of late has left me a bit deflated. It would be great if we could beat Arsenal and Chelsea before the end of the season and cement a Europa league spot, however history tells me it will be a real struggle to finish on a high.

We haven't failed to beat one of Arsenal or Chelsea over a league season since 2015/16 by my reckoning.

We're due a result against one of them this season.

Utterly ridiculous to hear excuses like we’re not ready for it, doesn’t really matter for the development etc. seems like we’re ready to forego next season as well by the sounds of things. No CL in 2025 is a major setback from the position we were in. Utter disappointment here - no excuses.

Said it last season.

The CL is an adventure and every player gets well up for it for the first time.

But then when they have just traveled to the Bernabeu and have to go to the Amex a few days later, the players usually cant get as up for it.

Newcastle really struggled in the first few months and then injuries started to pile up to multiply it.

Villa will need depth.

I think with Emery and a deeper squad Villa will handle CL better than Newcastle did.

Will be disappointing if we miss out but injuries and suspensions aside we’ve certainly lately not been good enough or consistent enough.

I get Villa are in the driving seat but Ive no idea why a lot of people are talking like this is all done and dusted.

If we beat Arsenal, the opinion will swing again (yes big if, but still)

Mixture of how we've played since opening 10 games plus the loss of our LB for remaining games and potentially RB for next week and 4 of the 6 games remaining are games we are tend not to get anything from. Our main hope was for villa to collapse and that doesn't look likely now so 5th it is

Anfield and Stamford Bridge yes, but we do well enough against Arsenal and City at home....so that statement isnt exactly accurate
