That really should be that. Having Villa still in the Conference is particularly huge. They're the clear best team in that tournament by a long distance. And have a particular incentive to do well as the most likely team to finish 5th.

The double win of the longer they stay in the tournament the more chance we finish fourth and the more chance fifth gets champion league is sweetly reassuring.

(Not that I'm not confident we'll finish at least fourth anyway).

I think Delaney jumped the gun a bit when he posted this. If Villa had got knocked out by Ajax it would have still been in the balance. But the Villa result alongside West Ham beating Freiburg is huge. It would be a shock from here if at least 2 of City, Liverpool and Villa didn’t reach the final of their respective competitions.

I think the main thing is that Freiburg went out leaving Germany with 3 of which Dortmund won’t go any farther. We have 5 who may win all the comps plus some points from the others.
Liverpool v Leverkusen would be interesting in the europa.

I don't think that can have been updated as the number of teams left for each country is wrong.

Don't think it has actually been updated. The total number of teams still involved is wrong for example. Says Germany has 4/7 when they only have 3/7

Leverkusen are capable of winning the europa league so as soon as they are out then I'll be confident

Germans given a bit of hope with that draw, would definitely need to win both their head-to-heads with the English (Munich vs Arsenal and Leverkusen vs West Ham).

Bayern v Arsenal in CL
West Ham v Leverkeusen in Europa

In an ideal world we’d want both German teams to smash them. Do we still want that (if we have to rely on 5th).

Yep. This co-efficient stuff is all nice but definitely enjoy Arsenal and West Ham losing more.

I don’t think there would be a much better feeling outside of a Spurs match than seeing Kane score a late winner to knock them out. And if by chance Arsenal did go through then that benefits us anyway so kind of a no lose situation for us.

But yeah, agreed. Having thought about it for more than 1.5 seconds, I want them both out. Hopefully smashed 10-0 on aggregate.

If both get smashed (Germans winning both legs), then Germany is on 17.786 vs England on 16.25. Germany would have another 3.429 points left to play for vs 4.375 for England. So it would be in Germany's hands, and probably close to a 50/50 chance (Germany in a better mathematical position, but City/Liverpool/Villa being more likely to win their respective tournaments than Munich/Dortmund/Leverkusen). So really is entirely subjective.

Not really sure why media have gone in really early in saying "its almost a certainty for England to have it ". In that case.

Fuck the co-efficient! I hope Kane destroys the gooners.
West Ham game I don't care so much as Liverpool will probably win that tournament anyway.

It’s the usual English exceptionalism that the British press is chocked full of.

The draw has not been great for England

Probably makes it any 2 from 3 as the 2 Italian teams playing each other isn't good for them, now is Atalanta playing Liverpool.

Looking at it, Levekusen should win, Arsenal is 50/50, Liverpool, City should go through and hopefully so should Villa.

I'd go:

Bayer, City, Atletico, PSG (Really glad Arsenal are in the side of the draw they are, 4 best teams all in 1 side)

Roma, Liverpool, Bayer, Benfica

Dont really care about the Conference, Villa are morons if they dont win that, terrible tournament.

If Arsenal win I think 5th is almost guaranteed - what a horrible situation - cant have them lot in the Semis
