It doesn't seem long ago that they were defensively sound but everyone was wondering where the goals were going to come from because they were barely scoring. They've had an "easy" run of games but they've been blowing these teams away with ease, most of them away. Their goal difference over the last 4 matches is +20 ffs.

They've played Liverpool twice but they still have to go to the Etihad but other than that (and our match obviously) I don't see anything but wins in their remaining fixtures, assuming they keep this level of performance up and don't suffer any injuries. And I think they'll beat City tbh.

I think the only obstacle that could cause them problems is if they beat Porto and progress further in the CL. Then they will be playing more, the level of opponent will be increased so the games will require more from them. At the minute, they are able to blow away teams because the opposition is so poor, so they're able to blow away teams but conserve energy at the same time.

But I think looking at the 3 teams currently, I would say they are slight favourites comparing the run ins. But you have to remember, City and Liverpool have been here for the past 4/5 seasons, they are used to the pressure and expectation of a run in. Arsenal collapsed last year with a massive lead.

They remind me a bit of where we were under peak Pochettino. What I mean by that, is they are a very good team with massive potential and now it’s a question of whether they go on and win major titles like Klopp’s Liverpool or run out of steam before they win leagues or Champions Leagues.

It’s also worth noting remembering that they have spent considerable amounts of money to get where they are and have backed Arteta through difficult times. Arguably Poch did a better job with less resources and more disruption.

If we are looking to Arsenal as some sort of example, it should remind us that we need to be patient and ultimately measure progress in terms of seasons, rather than months.

Credit where it's due, always good to have a big win away from home but just to put it into some kind of context...

Sheffield United's last 4 home games:
  • 0-6 vs Arsenal (Lge)
  • 0-5 vs Brighton (Lge)
  • 0-5 vs Villa (Lge)
  • 2-5 vs Brighton (FA Cup)

But then look at how many Arsenal have won by in recent games. Last night wasn't a one off. I know people on here hate giving them any sort of credit, but they are scoring goals for fun and at the moment have the bigger GD. They're doing all they can do by playing and winning well.

Agreed 100%
I think it's crazy to minimise their performances. We struggle to beat teams like Shefield and Brighton gave us a whooping. I get that we're in a transitional period and we're actually doing better than when they went through theirs but they are a bloody good team and I can only see them getting stronger.

Yep, quite jealous of how easy they dispose of the 'lesser' team whereas we make very hard work of it.

Martinelli - 25/27 PL appearances
Saka - 26/27
Odegaard - 24/27
Rice - 27/27
Gabriel - 25/27
Saliba - 27/27

The 6 "core" players of their team have missed fewer League games combined than Maddison has this season. No wonder they're absolutely flying.

Nott Forest 1-2 Arsenal
Fulham 2-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 0-2 West Ham
Luton 3-4 Arsenal (90+7 minute winner)
Arsenal 2-1 Wolves
Brentford 0-1 Arsenal (89 minute winner)
Everton 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 2-2 Fulham
Palace 0-1 Arsenal (Penalty)
Arsenal 2-1 Nott Forest

They've found some good goal scoring form in recent weeks, but they've struggled more throughout the season against the 'lesser' teams than we have. Go on to Arsenal Mania and rewind a few threads to New Year's Day and you'll see a significant number of people slagging off the manager and the quality of football they were playing.

Excluding Fulham away and Forest at home (games that we have yet to play), they are 5 points better off than us in the fixtures you listed and we have a game in hand, so that could be just a 3 point gap between the teams with the NLD still to come at The Lane. Lots of if's, buts and maybes I know, the big thing for me is it seems they have made the most of their winter break in Dubai and improved greatly since then.

Their previous bottle jobs will continue to give hope, especially against two clubs and managers that know winning.

However, if you finish second and then drop £160m on two players, not winning the league is definitely a failure.

If faced with any gloating Arsenal fans tomorrow, you may care to remind them, purely for context you understand, that Arsenal have now achieved the same level of Champions League success - one successful knock-out tie in the past thirteen years - as Shakhtar Donetsk, Marseille, Malaga, Galatasaray, Wolfsburg, Leicester City and APOEL.

Of course, Shakhtar Donetsk, Marseille, Malaga, Galatasaray, Wolfsburg and Leicester City were good enough to go through on aggregate score, so one could argue that their achievement was greater than that of Arsenal, who, like APOEL, only sneaked through on penalties.

Still, credit where it's due. Arsenal have now, finally, equalled APOEL's achievements, so well done them.
