Perisic was the plan B, and it was a good plan B. I think he's the biggest loss playing against packed defences.
Now that's the example of a proper plan B, a slight adjustment.

Keep playing the same way but hit a few deeper earlier crosses.

Not what people have been advocating and changing things.

And you are right, it didn't feel like he'd be a huge miss initially as we looked greaylt but I'd say our performances actually suffered as soon as him and Solomon got injured as we lost some unpredictability.

Teams have adapted to us but they wouldn't have been able to adapt to a tricky winger and a player that can whip crosses like Perisic and if they tried to our typical play would be able to flow again as they'd have to leave spaces

His unpredictability was perfect in Ange's set up. The ability to hit quality crosses off both feet meant defenders couldn't just push him one way or the other.
I think Samuel Iling Jr would be a good squad signing for those reasons.

He has played LWB, LW, RW and even CM for Juve, his defensive stats at LWB are very similar to Udogie's at Udinese, so I think he could be back up to him at LB, and whilst I don't think he has the attributes to start games on the wing, he can cross (and long pass) very well with both feet, so can be a sub option for either wing in games we are struggling with a low block.

He would also be HG in a year if we signed him this summer.

You’d be supprised how many of them there are, I’d imagine not so much in stadium but on socials there are some real idiots and quite a lot of them too
If I see anyone trying to boo anyone because of their religion/nationality then I will quite rightly call them out for the scumbags they are.

It's amazing how far we came from people saying he was one of the worst ever signings. A hell of a lot of people seem to want to get rid of Solomon too on this thread. It's mad how quick people are to bin our new signings without giving them a fair crack.

I think he's generally under rated by our fans. I think that was/is the case with all the best players from our second string. To me those are Perisic (was), Manor and Gio. It's much harder to look good when you aren't playing with the best players. I think the League Cup loss to Fulham really unfairly tarnished those 3, as I saw it suggested our backups weren't good enough. But now we've seen that when our first choice players have to play without a few of our other first team players, suddenly they don't look so great either. Gio is the only one who got the opportunity to show he is more than capable. I think Manor will do the same when he's fully fit.
I like Lo Celso and Soloman and I think they both fit our style well. It's just the injuries are an issue because it's hard to rely on them. Its hard enough to come in as cover but when you get so many injuries as well close to impossible. Everyone needs to stay active and next season with European football there will be better opportunities. We just have to consider they're both non homegrown and often injured. I think we need to sacrifice one in the summer as can't have 2 like that. With Lo Celso down to 1 year I would let him go and keep Soloman a bit longer. Talent wise though you can't ask much more for competition.

Not ready to lose hope on the guy but when trying to compete for top 4 time isn't always given to struggling players.

He'll need to get over the injury and on his return he'll find himself down the pecking order. He's going to need to stay injury free and take his chances if he's to have a career here.

Sessegnon has been here 5 years and still gets chances when deemed fit. There's no hurry if we think he's worth it, and given that we just signed him we presumably do.

Find it difficult to form too much of a strong opinion of Solomon as he just hasn't played enough for us tbh.

From what I have seen of him, he has something about him although not too sure its enough to he a regular starter. Seem to have thay initial burst of pace and can run/dribble and turn sharply with the ball although sometimes do think he looked a bit too predictable. Get the feeling he might me someone who has moments where he is able to do something special and impact a game but not necessarily someone who is constantly going to be a thorn in the side of the opposition and be a problem week in week out.

Slight concern over whether he can be eased out of the game by more physical opponents. No idea whether there are long term injury concerns but if there are then obviously an issue.

I know this is jokey. but he was great v Burnley. And he would offer us something different on the wing off the bench.
He really was good - but its such an incredibly small sample size.

ANd I don't think its an issue of his talent - it will his availability. Similar to Lamela or Lo Celso now.

I really hope he can stay fit for the remainder of the season. Regardless of his long term future here I am just looking to see what he can add to the team, there is no doubt we have been lacking someone with his skill set in the final third so I hope he gets his chance and makes the most of his time on the pitch.

Yeah, for all the moaners I see in the crowd, whenever I see someone go too far, some large geezer always gets up and puts them in their place. Never fails to make me smile.

Unless I have misremembered, isn't this one long injury and not a result of multiple?
