If Chelsea really are looking for 'pure profit' from a sale of one of their academy graduates, I would prefer we pursued Levi Colwill rather than Connor Gallagher. 4th quality CB, LB cover and homegrown. Him and KWP would have us covered for our back line as well as homegrown requirements.

Chiesa would be an interesting option. Only has 1 yr left on his contract by this summer. Problem with him is he's had quite a few injuries.
Neto obviously would be an exceptional fit for our system. But if Wolves want close to 80m, forget it.
Fernandez from Boca Jnrs also has 1 yr left this summer on his contract. Only 21. Could be decent DM cover.
Gallagher also has one year left. But it is just so hard picturing this actually happening. I'm a fan. But would Chelsea sell to us?
KWP will also have one year left. Plus, he seems fairly comfortable playing LB in a pinch too if I recall.

Just because Wolves want £80m doesn’t mean they’ll get it. I’m sure it will end up around £60m for whoever gets him and at that in todays market I hope it’s us

I think there is going to be a very notable deflation in the transfer market. I think prices quoted in the press for players are yet to catch up with the realities of the current economic conditions. Not only do lots of clubs have to sell in order to avoid points deductions, but many of their potential customers are not in a position to spend. The likes of Villa, Newcastle, Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal, would normally be rvials in the market with us, for players of a certain quality. But that isn't going to be the case this summer. Unless City or Liverpool want Neto, I doubt he'll go for more than £50 million, while a player of his quality 2 years ago would have cost around £70 million.

Pol Fernandez? Much as I'd like to see a new Boca player come to Tottenham, I can't see Ange seeing him fit his system, although Boca do play very differently to us so you never know. He was only 21 until he was 22 last October, by the way, and his contract runs out at the end of the calendar year, so that will definitely help keep the price down. He has recently been linked with a couple of Brazilian clubs, and I reckon that's more his level than even back up here, but would love to be wrong.

Why shouldn’t spend £80m on a player if that’s the one we really want other top clubs do and we’re now earning the same sort of money as them?

Usually I would agree if we've done our homework and we believe that's the best player to improve us then we should go all in for that player.

However I don't think we'll need to spunk 80 million to sign him. We also need to be absolutely certain it's the right move - we can't afford misses of that magnitude like United and Chelsea can.

I know we're probably not going to sign a striker, but Gyokeres looks like a Kane regen.

He's got everything you would want in a striker.

Maybe he turns out to be a one-season wonder. But at this rate, he's going to get a mega move this summer.

The second goal in this video is Kane esque.

Wanted him when he was at Coventry, watched him a few times and was sure he had a big future. Really felt a mid table club was going to take a punt before he got a move to the likes of us. Needs to prove it long term but I don't see any reason why he won't.

I always find it hard to know what you do about a back up goalkeeper.

You want one who is better suited to the system so that cup games, and in case of injury you can set up the same. However the issue I guess is if you go for young and talented, well you’re trying to attract players who are good enough, yet happy to do a lot of bench sitting and take chances as and when they come up. Let’s face it Vicario isn’t going anywhere either is he.

The second option is going for an older experienced option like we did with Forster, but then being older they tend to be less established playing with the feet and tend to be shot stoppers due to the way football has evolved.

So which way do you go with it? And how do you go about getting someone who is good enough.. yet happy to have limited minutes. Goalkeeper minutes aren’t really like any other position where you can potentially force your way in are they.

Plus if we sign a better fit for second choice keeper… do we just say goodbye to Austin/Whiteman at this point? Surely the two of them just need to be somewhere they regularly play to get their careers going a bit?

They don't look like the most credible rumours, but Huijsen looks an unreal talent. Scored this goal the other day in the league. Imagine having the composure and skill to carry a ball from CB like that then score at 18! Plus he's fucking massive

Yes please.

Him and Neto would really add a lot to our attacking options and both have significant room for growth too.

Should easily be achievable for us too.

I’m fine with us signing players like Philogene as long as we also sign a marquee winger that instantly improves the starting 11.

No point hoarding players for the sake of it, only for Ange to give them 10-15 mins of playtime off the bench.

Seen a few links to Serie A players recently which I guess is to be expected. Dorgu, Ebosele, Huijsen, Calafiori and Gudmondsson to name a few. Don't watch a lot of Italian football so not sure how good any of them are but we have a good strike rate from Serie A so definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I'm thinking 1 domestic based talent like Philogene, Summerville, Koleosho etc alongside a marquee winger like Neto, Williams etc.

I would obviously love both Williams and Neto but being realistic I don't expect it to happen.

Some great talent in the Serie A at the moment. Huge advantage for us to have Paratici using his contacts for us there.

He's very highly rated by Juve, i'm not convinced they will be looking to sell him come summer if he continues to impress on loan. It's true they need money but I think they will sell others like Soule and maybe even Chiesa considering his contract situation before selling Huijsen.

I just don't see the rationale in allocating funds this summer to CB when we have a plethora of talent there both in terms of 1st team quality (Romero, VdV, Dragusin) and highly rated youth (Phillips, Dorrington, Vuskovic).

Other areas in our squad need attention first and foremost.

Huijsen does look like a fantastic talent and thus far seems to be proving himself Roma. But I agree with you, he will have turned 19 by the time the summer window reopens so he's not even a player that one day might be HG. Obviously we need to see how he does the rest of the season but surely, considering how well he seems to be doing thus far, Phillips is the player to take the last CB spot.

Without trying to contradict myself too much, I do think we should always be in the market for high quality youth prospects but we have to be mindful of pathways here and the message it sends out to our academy.
