I obviously feel for the kid and hope this is something he can overcome, but you have to chuckle at this plot twist. For all the media coverage, ITK, opinions, and arguments, its the unknown unknowns that get you the hardest.

I probably think Brugge were asking us for to much. We are one of the few clubs who probably can afford to over pay, I can also see the reasons for him going to Brentford to be fair when all our players out back we have currently 3-4 players for his role. I’m not saying we have the same pressure on our players as United or City, but there is pressure. Just look at the criticism Johnson has got for what is basically a handful of games when we have to relied apon him to do a job and hes 4 or so years older.

I find it a bit sad that info so detailed as this gets in the press. Its almost personal medical info that affects his life but now we all know he has bad knees

There's a big difference between being outbid and pulling out out of transfer. Especially with young players who aren't necessarily ready to start every week.

There is also the chance that the issues aren’t as severe as are being made out in the press and it’s being deliberately leaked by Brentford who are exaggerating the issues in order to drive the price down. Ether way agree it’s not great for the reasons you state.

I'm 100% sure one the of the ITK's here flagged the medical issues a while back! Thought it was Trix but may have been POK thinking about it, it was bang on the money! Fascinating inside info from whoever got it to be fair.

Agree, but I'm not sure if there's much of an alternative.

We were very excited about this potential signing and I've no doubt Brentford fans were too. For him to go for a medical then the club not sign him, it's pretty clear something is wrong.

It's then either we get the truth or the rumour mill goes into overdrive.

That's awful news, but I guess clubs are more strict with their medicals when they're potentially spending a lot of money on an 18 year old. Especially in the days of FFP, when you're fucked if you don't get a return on your investment.

could just say failed the medical rather than detail he has floaty bits in his knees which curtails his career.

If we were in Brentford's shoes would the vast majority be wanting the transfer cancelled or take him on reduced fee etc?

Solomon nearly back, and Werner needs a few games to acclimatise and gel with his team mates. I said before he came in his movement is world class and on Friday that was beyond obvious. Problem was no one was looking for him to be in the area's and space he was finding for himself. A couple of games and some direction from Ange and they'll start to look for those runs and hit them.

LWF is not a priority right now regardless of Son's age and how long he has left.
THANK YOU! One hundred percent agree: I lost count on how many times Werner started a run perfectly and the through pass was so obvious there to be made. And, I would like to add; the difference between Werner and Johnson in this respect is quite monumental, with the latter not even close to a fraction of the amount of runs and invitations made.

Kulu had the off day of the season so far (not easy to play against the beste DM in the world though), and the team as a whole were a bit out of tune going forward tbh. The few through passes made in space behind Man City´s lines were well wide off the mark.

I can´t wait to see what a fully fit and match sharp Maddison can orchestrate with Werner (also with increased match sharpness); against any side without Rodrigo as the DM and someone with Walkers speed and experience on the right hand side we could potentially tear them to shreds on that left side of ours.

Lo Celso too has the qualities lacking last Friday to make use of Werner´s top class movement.

My personal Solomon jury is still out as there have not been enough evidence to really assess if he will be our future forward left side Messiah or a bit of a Meh ...

12 hours since the news broke about his knees being the issue with the transfer to Brentford and not one pun about him not being ‘the bees knees’?!

I fear for this community sometimes.

Back problems with younger players also can identify emotional problems.

There’s a lot of evidence shown that players in adolescence and late teens with back problems also struggle with high levels of stress and problems with anxiety. So his mentality may be preconditioned somewhat to struggle in high pressure scenarios at such an inexperienced level.
Or he could just have a bad back

Why would they force the price down if they already agreed it? Medical is the final step in the process.

His back issues have been mentioned several times at the beginning of the thread by myself and others. It’s a known issue that the club would have been very aware of after tracking him for as long as we supposedly have, he missed 8 games in total due to it this season. The knee however hasn’t been mentioned by anyone and is new info. I very much doubt we back off because of his injury issues without doing a medical.
