My over-riding impression of Eriksen v City was that he seemed disinterested. He didn't drop deep to try to get on the ball or try to help out in midfield. He lost possession time and time again and I didn't see him covering every blade of grass which is his stock in trade. Stats might say different, but IMO it was a poor display. City, on that form will make anyone look poor though to be fair.

Yeah I think it's foolish to chew out any attacker based on yesterdays performance, Kane was equally as pointless yesterday other than deciding he's the new Charlie Adam. I think ultimately it's down to Poch and it's his responsibility to pick the right players for the right type of game, as I've said already I don't think Eriksen is best suited away at the Etihad, doesn't make him a bad player just means that we aren't going to be able to utilise his particular skillset in this situation.

Was he not interested in Madrid? But he got interested against Villa.

An article from 2014?

Just from the top of my head. If I remember correctly Eriksen scored an important winner late against Inter last season and without his late winner against Brighton we wouldn´t have played in the CL this season. Two fairly key moments of last year. Not sure if any of our other players had more key moments than he did.

YOu brought in Denmark.I really don't care about Denmark. By the way I only judge Eriksen in what I expect based on his quality. Thats the difference of opinions.I dont compare him to other players we have.I know and most people know he has talent. There is something lacking for me with him that truly great players have though. So when every talks of his as if he walks on water.....

Problem with Eriksen is we expect too much of him. Stick him in a team that is firing on all cylinders and he is unbelievable, but he's never going to the kind of player to drag you through a game single handedly. If the team starts playing well again, so will he.

I figure you haven’t answered my question, you’ve skirted around it and included players just to avoid it, the thread is about CE not the others.

Mate your question was pointless, there isn't many players in the world who you wouldn't give 25 mill plus them for KDB, we're talking about one of the top5 players in the world and a paltry sum of 25 million in todays market, he's worth about 180-200 million. How you think that question would infer that Eriksen isn't good enough I don't know.

But it proves that he has it in him.

Data kind of proves that for Spurs as well.

But if we are talking about Eriksen being great or truly great then I guess we can agree. Eriksen isn´t "truly great" if you mean along the lines of Bale. He is a lot better than most of the other players we got though. And a lot better than most of the players in the PL. So even if he wouldn´t walk into the starting line-up for RM and Barcelona he is still a bit special.

Denmark
2017 qualifications for WC (take Eriksen out of that team and it’s pretty much nothing.

Eriksen qualifies Denmark for the World Cup by himself:

10 caps, 8 goals (5th in Europe), 3 assist, 37 changes created (1st in Europe).

Are you talking last season? How about Lucas Moura? In any case really its a moot point. Let me ask you a question about how you rate Eriksen generally and compare that with how he played in key games like the one in Madrid and the one yesterday. And being one of our top players and many think he is the best of our players, what do you expect from him in key games?

He is special but when needed often he isn't special.

I think about great players, especially midfield great players that I look to them to make a difference in the game when we need it.Not every game but generally when we need someone to inspire,to create but I NEVER see Eriksen as that player.Thats what I expect from great midfielders

One game? And even if Lucas was better it still makes Eriksen our 2nd best. Hardly all that bad. I´m not sure what is happening here with Eriksen, but would people really keep the likes of Lucas, Lamela etc. over him? Even Alli has been rather average since 16/17. Kane obviously and I would probably keep Son over Eriksen, but that is it in terms of attacking players. Hopefully N´Dombele and Lo Celso can be added to that list with time.

Inter and Brighton weren´t key?

Not sure what you are after.

I have clearly said Eriksen isn´t the kind of player that will shine by himself. Call that a weakness. But it doesn´t make him a bad player. Even Messi needs a support cast as he has proven time and time again with Argentina.

Who are like this today? KDB and maybe D. Silva?

Even players like Pogba and today´s Modric wouldn´t fit that description.

And why disregard facts? To say never is just silly. Not often enough is fair, but never is clearly just wrong.
