One thing gutting me is why the hell they started considering a loan just couple hours ago (I know they didn't but it has been made public then). A loan with obligation to buy basically equal to buying straghtaway. If Juve wants money now, we could pay ridiculously high loan fee and then buy him for almost nothing. Everyone wins.

Just out of interest if there is a loan deal with option to buy can that option be taken up at any point through the season? As I understand it Betis took up the option on Lo Celso in April before the window opened but I don't know if their season had finished.
Their season finished in may

Mate, with respect, they probably know what they're doing here. Love you.

Want the player, agree a fee with the club, agree personal terms with the player then still not sign the player - could only be us

I imagine we have to be more careful with the legals because, as you say, loan with obligation to buy is "basically equal to buying straightaway". It's definitely something that could be used nefariously (not saying we and Juve would be in this case).

Unfortunately for me this window means we haven’t strengthened sufficiently. Eriksen is surely off, so we’ve swapped Dembele for NDombele and Eriksen for GLC. Then signed two kids.

It’s just not enough.

To be fair it's the same thing that reportedly happened to United. His rights holder must feel they have a very strong legal argument because if the court case is not decided in their favor they will have missed out on a multi-million pound buyout offer. Shame but there's not much we can do if they've got him dead to rights for a judgment worth tens of millions.

How does that get round the image rights problem though?

He’s still playing for us.

Until the new season begins, we have been quite good at scoring some dramatic late goals this past season.

May that continue until 5pm today.

It may not be enough to win the title but it's a damn good start on closing the gap. We've brought in brilliantly talented young players at key positions of need on long-term contracts. Yes the squad is not perfectly rounded out but FFS we've smashed our transfer record twice on Poch's top choices. It's a brilliant, even if incomplete, window.

Nothing dead until 5pm. Repeat that and wait. Something special might just happen. It's the hope that saves you.
