I think how Southgate is playing him currently, on the left of a midfield 3 is going to end up being his best position.

I can see that working, although I think it depends on the profiles of the other two in that three.

Long term though I think his major strength is his ability to find space and, imo, that's utilised most effectively just behind kane. Think he's sometimes a bit too laboured to become elite playing deeper.

Tricky one tbf.

Off Kane is his best position IMO. Kane and Son/Moura as a front two (with the later pulling wide dragging the CB out) will Dele floating in and around Harry will be one way we’ll see them play next year. Think we’ll also see 4231 and 433 with different personnel. GLC can play as one of the 3 CMs or the 3 advanced midfielders. I’m getting moist just thinking about how unpredictable we could become if we keep Eriksen, with TND and Lo Celso added to the mix

People got excited when we spent the Bale money on those 7 signings, of which only 2 remain at the club and arguably only 1 really established them self as a crucial player to our first 11. We were spending big and people said then that this was a big statement of intent. In hindsight they didn't all quite work out and we offloaded 5 of them.
You cannot compare then to the now situation.

Then AWB without an obvious game plan, just bought anyone who would come aboard without any thought of where they would fit in.

On this occasion Poch has a plan and is very selective who wants, and will not buy someone if he doesn't want them or they wont fit into said plan, no matter how available or affordable they are.

Big difference.

We're also not spending circa 20m on 5-7 mediocre players. We're also spending major money on two of Europe's most sought after talents.

I don't think we would be paying that much for a player if we had thoughts of him being on the bench tbh, therefore I'm pretty certain Lo Celso would be a starter. But yeah the lineup is going to be hard to make, someone is gonna get upset I think.
Or inspired.

Ultimately the competition for places should make them raise their game, not spit the dummy.

I expect that any dummy spitters will be shown the door pretty sharpish.

I think anywhere he can fit in a system regardless of position where he can act as a sort of shadow striker/midfield conduit that isn't tactically reliant on pace is always where he'll fit well. That's always why I feel like saying "he should be at CM/midfield 3/AM/Wherever is too reductive as any of those positions do different things under different managers/tactics.

I think Poch has a great handle on him and likes to evolve the system every year so I'm not at all worried.

Ultimately if Eriksen leaves or stays and we get Lo Celso it will be good.Ndombele was my top pick.Seeing him play with Sissoko/Winks will be a treat.
Going from there I can see more fluidity and Lo Celso will fit right in.Getting Sessegnon and later an RB and with Kane Son Moura and a revitalized Dele will be glorious

Stop it right now!! The thought of having a choice of midfielders to pick from!

Those 20m players then would cost you 50-60m now. The prices have inflated massively in the last couple seasons. Again, hindsight is great, but at the time I remember many spurs fans being excited

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it in this thread before, but apparently GLC holds an Italian passport so hopefully the work permit won't take very long.
If he has an Italian passport he won't need a work permit. He would just need international clearance which is a football not governmental thing.
