The way I see it is that Levy and Pochettino have very specific targets this transfer window and it's been very clear long before the window opened. Many will probably disagree with this but I don't see how Gareth fits in that transfer strategy right now. I don't see how he fits in the new "project".

We do seem to have money and Levy dare I say it Levy seem keen on using it, we have a brilliant manager with a clear vision and we are coming off a fantastic season in the world's best football stadium. Targeting players like Ndombele, Sessegnon and Lo Celso is the correct approach as I see it.

We're not United who can sign Falcao or Ibrahimovic on ridiculous wages and hope for immediate success and then bench those players when it doesn't work out.

People need to understand that when you bring in one of these world class elite players like Gareth it's always at the expense of something or someone. It effects wages, it effects the playing time of young and upcoming players, as well as our established class players.

Maybe I'm just too conservative but bringing home Gareth Bale right now is a huge gamble and quite frankly I'm not certain either Levy or Pochettino are keen on it anyway.

I disagree, players like Bale, who aren’t absolute shithouses like Ibrahimovic, give the entire club a lift. They make you believe. They also free up huge amounts of space for the rest of the team as they draw defenders. Currently that’s what Kane give us, but Bale would cause havoc as it would leave the opposition trying to double up on both him and Kane.

Trix has been pretty clear that the financials don’t stack up right now, but if they did I’m sure we would be all over it.

Yeah, completely agree with this. When Levy and Poch met to discuss transfer targets for this window, there's no way Gareth Bale was discussed as a realistic and attainable option for us.

At best, we might look at him at the end of the window, if we've done the transfer business we had planned for and we still have money to spare, we might see if a Bale deal can be worked in our favour.

I'm not saying Bale wouldn't be an asset. I'm saying that I just don't see him as viable long term option in Levy and Pochettino "project", "5 year plan" or whatever you want to call it.

As I understand it the "Project" is a five year plan, but within that Poch seems to be selling that we can achieve rapid change as well as building for the future. We are certainly going the right way about it, but there's no doubt that getting Bale would propel us on to the world football stage. Perhaps Levy is tying in to the naming launch.

Doubt it. Some of the biggest crowd favourites haven't been the biggest names. Steve Mcmanaman gets mobbed, in a good way, every time he goes to town.

Gago, guti, solaro, solgado are other examples that spring to mind (from when I used to follow them). The Chelsea comparison is terrible. For starters, Real Madrid have history and heritage.

Yes to be fair a lot of the issues have been Bales introverted nature though which is an issue for Eriksen too. That said Eriksen has more of a “cool dude” vibe than Bale and the huge personalities at Madrid over the last decade are gone / winding their careers down

Their fans are still dreadful though

Zidane has just cut bales agents legs out from under him by being direct in the media. Thiago from Bayern was talking about Bale saying hed be good.

This sort of signing, if he were to be available to us, would be used as a springboard for acceleration

I want him to move to a club and play the football we all know he can but equally I'd love him to not be bothered by the game anymore, turn up to training and milk that shithouse club for every single Euro they owe him on that lovely contract.

Who ever he goes to - Real is going to have to blink first and cave into demands to make it work. Zidane is doing then a disservice every time he rants against Bale like this. So perhaps we've got a chance...

But our dealings with Real when trying to buy from them doesn't feel me with confidence. Someone like Bayern have struck the James deal in the past so have had success with them. Plus, Bale's agent the other week completely dismissed our chances so there's that too :(

Wouldn't be surprised if his love for football has lessened in recent times. Many are saying it's unlikely, but can't help but think Poch and the club would be perfect for getting that passion back. The squad is a tight knit unit with zero egos, we have the stadium, the positivity is growing.

Just hope he don't end up at United. Him replacing their weakest link, Lingard, at RW would improve them drastically.

Sometimes players are presented to you. Similar thing happened with Adebayor, there’s no way we would or could have paid his salary but City cut their loses and footed most of it. I am sure we get first refusal and it would probably work for both parties because I am sure they still owe some money

Bayern makes so much sense. Huge club, Bale with point to prove at the highest level (CL, domestic titles), able to pay big wages due to fan base etc, clubs have a good relationship since taking James Rodrigues on loan, both Adidas sponsored teams, and with Robben and Ribery finished, it’s exactly the position they desperately need to fill with a name. 2+2....

Not the best quotes from Zidane. But he is right it does seem for the best that Bale leaves Real Madrid. If he ends up staying there then in my view it shows he has lost his love for the game and he is happy to just take the money and play golf.

No chance of them owing us money 6 years after the transfer!
