Anyone starting to think that we may set up without a focal point of Kane?

Dare I say it, but last year our play was often better without him and a mix of others leading a flexible line.

These additions, with CE staying, would provide even more variation to play
Did you actually watch any of the games we played without Kane when he first got injured last season? You know, when we were having to scrape late, desperate winners against Fulham, Watford and Newcastle due to us not actually being able to create any decent goalscoring chances.

Or at the end of the season when we only won one of the last five, failing to score in three of them?

Honestly cannot believe some people still believe this shit that Spurs are better without Kane. We were keeping pace with City and Liverpool until he first got injured. The only title challenges we've had in my 30 years of supporting Spurs have been when Kane was fit and healthy all season.

Say what you want about this forum but we are nothing if not creative to be able to debate whether Lo Celso would replace Eriksen or not 12,356 times
Repeating the same things over and over has nothing to do with being creative. The definition of "creativity" is "the ability to produce or use original and unusual ideas". So, repeating the same things over and over has nothing to do with being creative, as the definition of "creativity" is "the ability to produce or use original and unusual ideas". There might be snippets and shadows of creative posts in this forum, but mass re-producing and constantly repeating the same thing over and over has nothing to do with being creative as the very definition of "creativity" is "the ability to produce or use original and unusual ideas".

We should now be able to hurt teams from all over the pitch.

Ndombele through balls should create more chances for all, Lo Celso craft and shooting brings his own threats and also improves all around him.

Both new signings want and show for the ball and have technical ability to make it happen.

I do think we suffered against the press last season on a technical level, hopefully these guys can help beat the press and move the while team up the pitch.

We shouldn't have to be so reliant on Kane, but he's still the daddy.

Harry Kane is not being dropped what a silly comment ?
Who actually said anything about dropping him?

But he cannot play every minute of every game, so we are looking at options without having to buy a new CF - Llorente is not really an answer (though a potential one year option) and Parrott not ready yet.

We could have 10 points out of 12 minimum with Kane because he can finish.

and did you attend any of those games when he came back too fast from injury and was basically immobile across the front line?

He wasn't even fit enough for CL final in my opinion - a focal point for Liverpool to worry about as they know he is a goal scorer but nothing more because he wasn't fit

We are looking for a dependable alternative style of play when he is not in the team - these additions will help provide it

I have not suggested anywhere that the should not be in the team ..................

I think we will be more fluid this season if the accounts of Poch changing the system are right on.
So more movement and quicker times of getting downfield should rattle defences. Nothing static about us I hope this season

I know this is the Lo Celso thread but as everyone seems to be in here discussing formations...Does anyone think Poch will re-focus Dier on CB this season? Between Ndombele, Sissoko, Wanyama, Winks and Skipp we prob have enough players that can play a DM role if required even if there is arguably only one specialist in that list. If we move Foyth to RB we are arguably a little light in CB with only Sanchez playing a full time backup role. Toby could still leave too although the clause in his contract must have expired by now? Sanchez-Dier future CB partnership?

Really? He was so good last season. Can glide past players, has strength and can make things happen. He is very left footed but I wouldn’t worry too much, lefties are creative and he’s no different. (...)
Sissoko is a leftie!o_O

Or...is he a rightie? Does anyone know? Does he know? (n)

So, Lo Celso wants to join us but we’re playing poker waiting for a lower price to be more acceptable.

I don't see Dier getting much time in midfield tbh.

In off the post!!! Post of the day!!!! LOL!
Of course yes, the narrative started by some journos and rival fans to undermine Kane is still around
I dont think it is quite as simple as that. He was not at his best for chunks of the season and nor were we. When Son played centrally it made us a bit more fluid and we managed to string a decent set of results together.

Are we better without a fully fit kane, absolutely not, are we better when we have flexibility across the front line, definitely!

You quite literally said:

last year our play was often better without him

There was no mention in your original post about him being unfit or carrying an injury.

And I'll reiterate, the best football we've played is with Kane up front. It got him 2, nearly 3, Golden Boots in a row and made us title challengers.

How does the thought even enter people’s minds that somehow a team is worse by starting the best striker in the world?
Simply because Harry Kane is not the best striker in the world. Didn’t you know that he only scores tap-ins, accidental deflections and penalties?

Agreed totally but there is a case that we play differently and less predictably with him out of the team. That doesn't necessarily mean better but it does mean we have plans B and with Llorente a C which is great
