Re recent discussions on one of our players going to Fulham on loan in return; I think Oliver Skipp would be ideal and it could be a situation that would suit all parties, particularly being reunited with Scott Parker. In the Championship he could perhaps replace Seri, who has recently moved. Parker would be the ideal central midfield mentor.

Of course, Scott Parker would have a great knowledge of our youth players and could, within reason, probably take his pick. Fulham could provide the perfect platform to ‘farm out’ some of our younger players, similarly to what Lampard did at Derby for Chelsea.
They also seem to churn out a fair amount of their own quality youth so maybe they don’t need loans. Similar to levy in not wanting to fatten someone else’s goose.

Whilst I agree with you on Sessegnon, I think it would be suicide to have a smaller first team squad. We were overstretched last season with the size (and make up) we had, and there’s no limit on the number of U21s that can be registered, meaning Poch lacked confidence in using the ones we had.

Was the size of the squad an issue last season, or the quality therein?

But I agree, we shouldn't be trimming it down.

Assume his injury made getting the deal done so he could go on tour less of a time pressure. Now letting them get in replacements with the money before real is announced. Too much smoke here for there to not be a big ass fire..!

Shoot me down for saying this fuckos, but the odds of him joining us have tumbled from 1-5 a week ago to 1-20 last night. Seems most things are aligning

If things continue as predicted then we'll have done a great job of refreshing the squad with talent, for the long-term:

NDombele (22 years old)
Clarke (18 years old)
Lo Celso (23 years old)
Sessegnon (19 years old)

...and possibly one or two others, who would be young 'uns if that's our MO.

Looking good, all things considered.

There in lies the issue. I agree, smaller senior squad would make sense if we utilised the U21’s more, for arguments sake
RB - Aurier, Walker-Peters, (Hinds)
LB - Davies, Sessegnon, (???)
RCB - Alderweireld, Foyth, (Carter-Vickers/Eyoma)
LCB - Vertonghen, Sanchez, (Tanganga)

There comes a point surely where if you have faith in the academy players (assuming they are good enough), then it starts to pay off with a conveyor belt of talent coming through. Equally if we’re seen to be giving opportunities then we become more attractive to young players and parents when choosing where their kids go.
Maybe a lack of required quality in the current development squad is the fall down.

Then there is the ITK rumoured ‘significantly under 21’ player that we are trying hard for and trying to keep under the radar due to others interest. My belief here is it may be Odubeko from Man Utd. Young Irish striker, prolific last year, who has this last week left Utd after turning down a contract. Be nice to be on the good end of one of these situations having lost Forson and Madueke recent seasons.

FWIW, the Odubeko thing is a guess, based on media coverage about him leaving, but nothing confirmed about where too. Putting two and two together with the ITK about ‘significantly U21’ I may be getting 5....

Plus the other Sessegnon twin who coincidentally is also 19

Glad someone mentioned Eyoma as I was reasonably impressed when he played in the one senior game last season. Never seems to make the bench but I would be interested in what others who watch our youth think as if he is not getting a chance this year he needs to go out on loan.

When I've seen the youth teams play the players who have stood out have been Skipp, Bowden and Lyons-Foster. I've not seen Parrott.
Bowden looks physically less mature than the others - he looks like a teenage boy not a young man.

Seen something on another website (forgot which one now) that said medical has been booked in for next week. Not saying this is true, just saying what I had seen (y)

If Eyoma isn’t going to cut it we should let him go. Having said that I have read previously that youth games are not always the best for testing at senior level. In other words they might be better suited for the senior game.

It that footyinsider reliable?

I think they have some guys from goal.com who at one point were decent for us (although the Spurs journo Greg is doing cricket now I believe).

They've reported on this a lot so wouldn't surprise me if they have contacts at Fulham.

Are they fuck. In the league of shithouses they are challenging for top 6. One look at their website and the kind of ads they are generating should warning anyone with half a brain off.

Which means they have a lot of SC'ers on there.
As a frequent footyinsider viewer, I find this quite offensive.
