I like Nando and what he has done for us but if Toby and Eriksen are staying (fingers crossed), we would not be able to add Lo Celso or another Non HG and that worrys me a bit.

He has a boat load of experience and we all saw how it came in handy last year. Experience cannot be taught. Whats the harm of a reduced contract for 1 year?

I'm just concerned about how effective he will be when a guy of his age and mobility doesn't get a full pre-season under his belt, I just wish we wrapped it up sooner if we wanted to go this route so he could be on tour.

I'm sure if we sell Janssen and Nkoudou then that will balance the quota, not sure on that though.

Unless we sell.

who exactly, maybe Victor? Just blocks our transfer options like it did last year.

For the league yes, in the CL not

1 Lloris
2 Gazza
3 Aurier
4 Davies (not HG in CL)
5 Dier (not HG in CL)
6 Davinson
7 Jan
8 Toby
9 Vic
10 Sissoko
11 Ndombele
12 Eriksen
13 Moura
14 Lamela
15 Son
16 Nando
17 Foyth

Wanyama and poss lamela (if we get lo celso) would be my guess.

Llorente's time has come and gone and on balance he has done well for us but this is a backward step IMO, smacks of they can't find anyone else and this is a cheaper option. was looking forward to a brand new world but this is same old same old.

Parrot can play a part this season, and who better to learn from than Harry and Frrnando.

To be fair Llorente was instrumental in some of our comebacks this season. His aerial ability completely changed the second leg in Amsterdam. He was also useful in the domestic cups. People tend to forget that. Further more he got tons of experience of top flight football. It's really not the end of the world if we'd offer him a one year contract.

Since we got so much transfer business to attend on other positions it might be smart to extend Llorente's contract for one year, whilst bedding in Parrot

As others have said, we don’t have the luxury of being able to strengthen in every position in one window and Son and Moura have both proved they can play as a forward in Kane’s absence.

Also, I guess backup to Kane isn’t really that much of an attractive option. They simply know that no matter how well they do, they will always be second choice. Can’t be great motivation for any player. He also gives us the option of going direct when needed. Since he doesn’t rely on pace anyway, him being another year older probably doesn’t matter much.

If it is down to money, I have no complaints, as long as we invest in strong replacements for anyone we sell.
We made a net loss on Dembele/Ndombele and will make a further net loss on replacing Tripper and Rose.
Alderweireld, Eriksen and Wanyama would all go for less than market value, so that's potentially significant investment needed.
I'd rather we prioritise funds on decent starting fullbacks than a sub CF, who could easily cost us a lot without playing much or being a gauranteed upgrade on Llorente.

He's a decent impact sub, but if he does re-sign I hope he doesn't start too many games, even in the League Cup. We have to totally alter the way we play to accommodate him - great for launching it long in the last 10 minutes if we're looking for a goal, but not ideal for a full 90.

I dont think it is a backwards step

He offers a plan B or C when we need to lump it in the air - and there will be times we need to lump it in the air

I suspect what we are doing is for this season - spending our money on our midfield and with Lo Celso and potentially Sessegnon it means we are set in the middle and potentially out wide.

Next season I suspect some movement int he forward line positions and potentially defence dependent on how well we do this season.

Honestly, I hope he stays. I don't see him starting at all, but its a very good option to have later in games.

HG situation - I guess Wanyama/Aurier would have to leave

Why was he not kept on, hes a winner and has experience and was instrumental last season. We obviously aren't going to find a back up to kane this summer so he should stay

I presume he wasn't kept on in his optional year, because he was a higher earner playing 10 minutes every few weeks. I imagine his new offer reflects his current role.

The only problem I can see is the number of non HG players we're trying to bring in which congests the squad. We can get round some of it though by probably leaving Wanyama or Lamela (or both) out of the CL squad.
