Hopeful... After 2 years of chasing this guy we're hopeful.... Ffs this should have been in the bag months ago. But no, we're having a lovely transfer stand-off with Fulham - owned by one of the richest men in the world - to get them to shave a few quid off the price-tag...
Luckily Levy always comes out on top in these protracted transfer battles... :banghead:

How do you know this? Could easily be that we want to be sure that Sessegnon recovers fully from his hamstring injury before parting with 25m or whatever it will take.

Apparently AG was saying that Walker peters may get some game time at left back on your. Foyth is cutting shirt his holiday to come over and play some games . Think poch wants to give him as much time as possible playing right back. Get him ready for the new season
Really hope this isn't the case. Walker-Peters deserves a pre-season to prove himself in his strongest position as a RB, not one where he's underwhelming and constantly cutting in from LB.

As for Sessegnon, it's understandable people are concerned at the word 'hopeful' given that we seemed to be much more confident earlier in the window.

A bit worrying signing this guy, and letting Rose go. That means we have Davies as starting LB next season. Don't see at all how that makes us better.

Im sure liverpool fans thought the same when they signed Andy Robertson from Hull when they got relegated at least give the kid a chance to see what he can do in our team and not in a team where he was not always playing under different managers and different positions..... its almost like some want the kid to fail before he has signed

Yeah agree & I rate Sess, so don't think it's a bad signing at all.

It's just because he doesn't seem to play left back?? And is not that great defensively.

So I struggle to see how selling our first choice left back, and getting someone who's not really a left back to just go into the PL and play that position, is really gonna make us better. In 5 years mayb, but we're playing for trophies.

Weaker teams sess. Stronger teams davies? At least while ryan progresses. He's still 19 nowhere near his full potential yet.

That's what I'm expecting in the first few months. He's only a year younger than Trent Alexander Arnold and look how well he's done over the last two seasons.

Don't be silly, it's all doom and gloom on here 'cos somebody has used the word 'hopeful' in a post.

Player is injured, can't play on the tour, so Spurs not in a rush to sign him cos there is literally no benefit to doing so and they can use their time and resources sorting other, more urgent stuff out.

IMO Fulham used Sessegnon further forward because that's where they lacked quality. No reason at all to think he can't do a good job at LB. He might even prefer it there for all we know.

He was played in all sorts of different positions, if Poch thinks he is good enough to do it then its good enough for me, i also think with rose we only got to see somewhat of his old self towards the end of the season... playing himself into a move maybe

Agree - if Poch think we're good with Davies and Sess going into the next season, then i'm happy as well.

Just worryed that's all..

I personally think Davies is better as a LCB when we play 3 at the back but hardly ever lets us down at LB... if Davies had the Rose pace we would not be questioning it thats the only thing he lacks

Davies also lacks the delivery. He's not uncapable but he's not what a league title and CL title chasing team needs.

He does have other attributes but crossing is not his thing.

Neither has Rose.

Think Sess has some though..

Err, no it doesn't. The clue is in the first 4 letters. I hope I win the lottery but I'm not confident or optimistic that I will.

It all depends on the context and then also how different people take it. To me it's hopeful that we will sign him, which is a positive as we are still wanting him and trying to sort stuff out. But can also see the negative side of how it's taken also.

People have short memories. I remember how people spoke of Rose back in 2014 post Sherwood, and him getting boo-ed off at West Brom.

Can't defend, bad positioning, error prone, yada yada yada.

EVERYONE wanted Danny gone and upgraded that summer, including me.

Poch saw what he had to work with and immediately gave him a new 5 year contract. Fans we furious, and both Rose and Poch got hammered for it.

Go read some of the reactions to the club announcement on twitter, it's still up there. Embarrassing to read in parts.

If Poch believes Sessegnon can play LB, and Foyth RB, that's good enough for me.

We may have reservations, some have been well articulated, but Poch is our most successful manager in 50 years.

I find it unfathomable how fans STILL don't trust him to judge a player.

That's not to say he can't make mistakes, but as history has proven over and over, he's far more likely to be right than any of us.
