Is it unfair to think if Lo Celso was really pushing for this move he should have cut his holiday short to get it done in time to make the tour?

Maybe not that he isn't pushing for it but that if he wanted to start off on the best foot at Spurs.

Little concerned that our potential Eriksen replacement won't be getting much preseason time.

He wouldn't have gone on tour so not sure it matters. Don't think any of our players that played in the Copa America (Foyth, Sanchez) and African Nations Cup (Wanyama, Aurier) are going.

He just finished playing in the copa America I think I read that these players needed 21 days rest after it finishes . Hence why Sanchez and Foyth are not travelling

Poch is a hard taskmaster but also a good human, I'm sure he wouldn't be shouting down the phone knowing a player needs a post tournament holiday.

Tbh though if we for some reason can't negotiate a deal, might aswell pay the release clause? Because if the negotiations are in the 60-70 region no harm paying an extra 10... I'm sure we've got it and wouldn't hurt the club financial wise

Yeah but those have been players who have been in and around the team. It would have been beneficial for both the club and Lo Celso to get there early and start getting used to the players. If Eriksen is leaving and Lo Celso is tasked with the creative duties it could lead to a bumpy start if he only has a week and a half of training before the season starts.

With Betis looking to make some signings I can’t see this one dragging on much longer

He can only do so much though. He could be sat on the doorsteps of our training pitch with his legs folded and boots in his lap but he can't do anything if the clubs can't agree a deal.

Levy’s just gonna wait until Betis spend all their money in the hope they’ll get what they want for Lo Celso. Then once they’ve finished buying, BAM! Levy will lowball, renegotiate the terms and absolutely rinse them :X3:

How far do you think 10m goes towards paying ofiice staff, groundsmen, stewards, maintenance crews etc, or how useful would it be in making payments on the stadium finance or accountancy fees for example. You don't just chuck it away because you're getting a bit impatient. It's piss all in relation to transfers, but in the real world its still £10,000,000.

I said what I said with the thought of money incoming from transfers and the CL money we got. Come on now we can afford 10m lol. The staff will still get paid don't worry

We just managed pay 10m less for Ndombele, we will do that with Lo Celso and basically have "free" Sessegnon. :D

After reading the Betis managers quotes yesterday, I’m fairly confident that this will get done once we have a space available in the 1st team squad by selling someone, and that’s not including a player that was loaned out last year, I mean a member of the most recent first team squad.

I find it hard to believe when people say, ‘we’ll bring in x player whether we sell beforehand or not’. It makes no financial sense. Clubs simply cannot afford to shell out money on wages for players who don’t fit into the squad numbers wise. Plus, when negotiating with other clubs on deadline day they would know you have to get rid of them which would substantially reduce their market value - not to mention dramatically damage your bargaining power.

Levy will definitely want the players who were out on loan out the door (Carter Vickers, Onomah, Nkoudou, Janssen), as this would be additional income fee wise whilst freeing up more wages albeit minimal, but we’ll also need to sell members of the current first team squad to make room for new first team squad players. For instance, Trippier, Wanyama & Lamela out for Sessegnon, Aarons & Lo Celso. I’d be happy with that personally, plus Ake for Alderweireld. :)

Lo Celso is now being linked with a move to Benfica with Grimaldo going the other way. There don't seem to be too many sources reporting it, but it's out there in the Portuguese press.
