Alfredo Pedulla, Italian journalist that Reddit lists as a Tier 1 source (EDIT: Regarded as hit or miss except for news connected with one specific agent who is seemingly irrelevant to this report), is reporting that Simeone is interested in Eriksen.

Shit Google translation of the article:

Future to be written for Christian Eriksen . The jewel of Tottenham is about to expire, in recent weeks it has opened for farewell ( "I would like to try something new" ) and the suitors certainly do not lack. The Realhas been on the Danish track for some time, it has probed the ground several times and soon it could return to the charge (in the list of the Merengues there is always Pogba). Eye, though, because even the cousins of the Atletico Madrid in the last hours have done a survey for Eriksen, a profile that Simeon really likes. The Colchoneros are trying, it is not certain that the Danish will go away, but meanwhile we record the inclusion of Atletico. An operation that indirectly involves Zaniolo, as told.

He's listed as Tier 1?!?!?!?!?!?!

He's like Tier 4 as best. One of the least reliable journalists out there.

Maybe I got that wrong, I googled "Pedulla Reddit tier" and saw a few posts identifying him as top tier. Looking at it more closely it may only be for clubs connected to Sarri. I'll look into it more and edit if necessary.

Edit: Having looked into it even more, it appears that the consensus is that Pedulla is extremely closely connected to Sarri's agent Fali Ramadani, but is otherwise regarded on most Italian club subreddits as being either Tier 2 or Tier 3, or in other words hit or miss. A cursory Google search turns up no connection with Ramadani and Atletico that I was able to find, so probably worth taking that report with a grain of salt.

Would be a sideways step for Eriksen surely?

Nope a step up, they’re closer to challenging Barca than Real Madrid are. A Madrid are an excellent side, extremely difficult to beat and have some outstanding players. We too have some exceptional players but unless we get the likes of Ceballos, Lo Celso, RB, CB and a goal scorer? over the line we won’t be challenging Liverpool or City for the title. Whereas A Madrid will push Barca all the way.

They just sold their best player to Barca and another young superstar in the making to Man City. They are rebuilding and will not challenge Barca imo. Can’t see Eriksen wanting to go there

I'll pay you all a fiver on thursday, for a hamburger today, that he ends up signing a new contract before the end of the window and is playing for us this season.

Starting to get linked to the likes of Utd, Atleti and PSG (clubs that a less of a clear step up currently), back training with his mates and a shiny new Ndombele, Poch wanting him to stay and no doubt a juicy contract offer on the table, does make you wonder if he'll decide the grass isn't necessarily greener elsewhere.

Guess it depends how RM are advising him to act. Could see RM, Barca or Juve in his ear telling him to wind his contract down.

Maybe it's us looking to push him out the door rather than the other way round now. Bridges burned and all that.

Perhaps Poch has had enough and wants fresh faces who want to be here to replace him.

In a little bit of a difficult situation is Eriksen.

On one hand I have sympathy for him as a pro as he's been a huge player for us, he's never downed tools or kicked off behind the scenes so if he gets put in a bad situation where the club he wants to go to don't want him and we are actively trying to sell him then that's a bit harsh.

On the other hand, we absolutely are doing the right thing. Once he made it known he wants out, we should have been looking to gain a situation that allows us to move on for the better without him and we shouldn't put the brakes on that.

No way Poch wants Eriksen to leave. How many matches has Eriksen been playing over the last 4-5 seasons. First man on the team sheet

Often against lower ranking sides in the cups as well were you would think that he could have been rested.

IMO that tells you, have vital poch think Eriksen is for this team and the way he wants us to play

If someone is pushing Eriksen out of the door I expect that to be Levy who would never accept him leaving on a free next season.
