When They lose they’re English when they win they’re Welsh.

A bit like Murray being Scottish if he loses and British if he wins.

They're Welsh when they're from Wales, if this helps? Also, I've never actually seen anybody call Murray Scottish aside from Scots. He's always referred to as a Brit in England, the idea we ostracise him as soon as he loses is a myth imo. It's more than the Scots are super vocal about how Scottish he is when he does win.

You gotta love the Ozzie’s though. If they didn’t play cricket you might as well scrap the sport. They’re funny.

Yeah, I don’t get the whole England and Wales thing. You’d think it’d be easier to just have a separate, shit team for Wales or at least call the England and Wales team Eales or Waland or sumin.

The Murray comment was tongue in cheek. I also know nothing about tennis, coz, you know, it’s shit. Joking aside I have heard people say that in his early days but I think they were just joking/half joking.

That is gutting if you’re a kiwi. From what I’ve seen they’ve been pretty classy in defeat though.

Not necessarily correct. The rule says runs already run are added if the batsmen have crossed at the instance of the throw or act. The "act' refers to what caused the overthrow which in this case was the final deflection off stokes' bat.
Without looking at it again, I was under the impression that a second run had been completed when or as the ball hit the bat which surely means two runs + four = six :nailbiting:

Yep but this Australian umpire (wonder why he's getting involved!) is trying to claim the act is when the NZ fielder threw the ball, at which point they hadn't crossed. I would say his interpretation is wrong.

That surprises me. In that case can we assume a run out is to be judged when the fielder throws the ball not when it actually hits the stumps? Or is this one of them fiddly cricket rules that over complicates things sometimes.

His interpretation makes no sense as it assumes the second run wouldn't have been completed.

It's just another bitter Aussie mug who is trying to tarnish the win because they hate it. Jeez we've seen a few of them in this thread already. It's pathetic.

Aussies are the worst combination of incredibly arrogant winners and bitterly sour, petty losers. Absolutely no class whatsoever.

It can't help that they are also now basically shit at all sports, despite being historically known as a great sporting nation (they actually never were). Crap at cricket, crap at rubgy, crap at football, crap at tennis. I guess they're ok at swimming :ROFLMAO:

Kiwis are bloody good sports to be fair. The majority of complaints seem to be coming from India, Pakistan and Australian fans!

Kane Williamson and his team were classier in defeat than any Aussie team in history has been in victory. New Zealand can be proud of them.

Must’ve been a tough one for most Ozzie’s watching that as I can’t imagine they’re big fans of the Kiwis either.

Bit like us spurs fans watching the Europa final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Maybe they took some solace in watching NZ lose. You’d imagine the rivalry with them is more intense than it is with the Poms but they do take cricket pretty seriously and I guess the England/Australia cricket rivalry is a bit special

Best in the world at Ozzie Rules though.

I have to say, the manner in which the decisions went against them, and the dignity they displayed in defeat after also losing the previous World Cup final. As an Englishman I'm delighted we won, but I can't help but feel for them. When it comes to shit luck one in a million ways to lose after having victory so close and so cruelly taken away from you in bizarre circumstances, that will probably not happen to any other poor sods and having such dignity in defeat it's hard not to see obvious parallels between their cricket team and our beloved Spurs.
