Lyon have just signed Joachim Anderson, a guy we've been linked to as a replacement for Toby. Might that through a spanner in the works?

Love to see him stay, but pretty much resigned to losing him, could live with him going to Roma rather than any PL club, would hate to see him playing in another PL club on MOTD each week, it would be a stick for the media and other fans to hit us with everytime he puts in a MOM performance. At least in Italy he will be pretty much forgotten about.

Only other thing this could be is a press leak of sorts to flush out teams who hold an interest yet haven't firmed anything up for him yet ...

It's such a weird link tbh.

Everyone knows his situation. Not sure why we'd need a press leak.
Well, you say that, thing is if teams are hedging their bets with other central defenders this could force their hand. I mean, why not, right?

No Champions League football either, it's such an odd move (if it happens)

To my mind it sounds like we're forcing him out as we just don't want anyone to leave on a free. Would back up the constant ITK that has suggested the relationship is broken and no going back. The whole thing is a bit weird considering he was ever present last year. Poch usually freezes players out in situations like this ( think Walker).

I understand what you mean and might make teams that were waiting make a bid. Just the whole think they can get him for £10m doesn't seem to have come from spurs.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean.

It's mainly all guess work, just a bit of fun to move a slow moving Friday afternoon along for me. (y)

Strange one this, but perhaps as has been said by our ITK's this year that Levy is backing the manager this year. If the rift is that bad Poch probably wants him out the door?

Without sounding arrogant, we are currently a better draw than Roma, I doubt they could offer him what we we did in the contract he went back on with us.

But I do doubt we will sell him for much less than the release clause.

Just seems like it would be a waste of a supreme talent. The thought that he could move to Serie A to not play in the Champions League for a salary less than what we can offer and for small fee just seems too odd to be real.

If real don't come in for eriksen and we can get him to sign a new deal. Moving toby to roma could be good for the club. Levy can say to players that are thinking of running down their contracts, look a chris and toby see how it worked for them.

Toby staying over Eriksen is way more important to the team. I'm pretty happy with how 'weird' this situation is with him, for the life of me i have no clue why United and even City to a degree aren't throwing 25m at the second best CB in the league, it's bloody crazy.

Praying we somehow get through this window and hold on to him.

Poch wants him out the door yet played him virtually every game though has to go against it. There’s no way that happens in football nowadays however professional both men are. There’s too many other factors at play.

With the clause becoming null on approx. the 25/26th July, there's only just over 2 weeks for someone to activate it. Wonder if he'll stay and just see out his contract?

Not sure. With baldini travelling to london and our bid for saliba he might go. Although saliba does seem to want to stay in france for another year. But it would give sanchez plenty of game time.

Everything points to Toby going on a free transfer next year. He said he has a contract and will be here next season.

People are surprised no clubs have come in for him... Clubs would contact his agent, who would give them the low down. Not interested honoring his contract blah blah blah.

If he was leaving he'd be GONE already.
