My guess is there is probly about 6 clubs with enough £ in a position to take bale on once the two parties start to move. In the end i think Bale will have plenty of choice. I do believe we will be on his short list even if we dont have the best offer.

I just don't see it like that. By my reckoning, if you exclude the silly options (like China/Qatar/MLS even) then the only clubs that could even entertain paying even half of the wages Bale is on are City, Man Utd, PSG, Barca, Bayern and Juve.

Out of those, Juve Bayern and Barca would only pay those kinds of wages for a one-off mega-signing i.e. a "this is the difference between winning the CL or not" type guy like what Juve tried to do with Ronaldo, but I'm not sure Bale really is that guy any more. That leaves you with City, who I just don't think would want him because they don't need him and/or could get someone better if they wanted, PSG who are in the process of back-pedling a bit to try and save themselves from a FFP clampdown, and Man Utd.

Man Utd can afford him, probably could do with him, are known to have been interested in the past, and would presumably be an attractive proposition to him due to the obvious Giggs link and moving back to the PL etc. To me they seem like the only club where it really makes sense. This idea that there'll be loads of clubs queuing up to get him doesn't really stand up to scrutiny unless Real are prepared to keep paying for argument's sake 70% of his wagesm, at that point you can add more clubs to the list and some of the ones I mentioned would be more tempted. But as things stand, I think he's pretty limited in his choices.

It’s really a lot less funny when you show your workings out.
It is however funnier if you start reading the comments about how much GB would earn shagging his missus and then dont realise that the next poster who said this was replying to something completely different and not the same thread:
Agreed. Which is why I feel Eriksen would struggle to fit in as he seems fairly humble and keeps to himself

Maybe it's the sadist in me, but I'd love to see Juve sign Bale just to watch Ronaldo lose his mind.

At 119 pounds a minute, you mean he can last only 20 seconds?

All this rate-per-minute/second talk got me thinking, and then it dawned on me: if I were somehow, someway, magically transported into his body whereupon I suddenly found myself in bed, at night, with his missus laying next to me- in my current, pathetic state, I’d likely end up owing my team money.

He’s going somewhere other than Madrid, just not back to us, sadly

That's a shame. Was hoping it would fall into place for us. Hoping it's abroad or China as I don't want him to play for another PL side. Utd seems then obvious answer though.

Yeah, a pipe dream, but I too held out a tiny hope we could use the Eriksen situation as leverage.

Would sicken me seeing him playing for one of our rivals.

Has to be United surely, Pogba goong the other way. Will be the last week of the window, I still think he has it in him to perform TBH. Just too big a risk for us.

It’s not really their usual style of transfer is it?
Agree- he’ll probably go to Utd. They’re the only club that can manage the financials and are fairly desperate to inject some glamour into their squad. Especially with Pogba keen on going to Madrid

I think most of their fans won’t be that amused by it TBH, they are already paying a injury prone player a small fortune.
