Exactly. We’ve been here before so many times. I’m amazed at the confidence people are showing.

I accept that the circumstances (ie our profile) are different, but in every other window, ever, the way the Ndombele transfer ends is by going to someone else.

I really hope this is the is the start of something different!
Just like Lamela, Soldado, Lloris, Vertonghen, Sissoko and Lucas - transfers that have appeared strung out from our perspective and then ended in abject...

Oh, wait.

Could it be that sometimes we manage to sign players we want and sometimes we fail? Just like every other team?

If we sign him, great. If we don't it's because someone has offered more money (probably to his agent). C'est la vie.

We may do, for 10 mins here and there. There's nothing to suggest Dier will be his "partner" in a double pivot.
I think we'll see it more often that that but to be honest what prompted me to respond was the original response that Dier is not good enough got 24 agrees and 5 winner ratings which Ithought was extraordinary.

The difference here is the quality of player (specifically Ndombele) we’re after - were PSG (or their equivalent), Man U or Real potentially after any of them?

Nobody is doubting they will sell the player. You have to excuse the panic stations - it comes with supporting Spurs and unfortunately our transfer activity / strategy has left a lot be desired over the last few years so when we go in so early for a top player of course it is only natural that when it drags on people will start to worry. Only time will tell whether they were right all along to worry or not.

If you are relaxed about it good for you. We were told similar last season not to worry everything was in hand and we had millions to spend etc so you have to cut people slack. Aulas owes us nothing, he will sell his player to whoever pays the most - of course the player would also need to agree. If the replacement has medical and signs on Tues / Weds do you believe that the deal with Spurs will be rubber stamped straight away? These things don’t work out that way and the longer it goes on the more chance of it not happening.

I'm not saying it will happen, I'm not even saying I'm confident it will happen, I'm not saying that this time is different, I'm simply saying it is stupid to be getting upset this week when their chairman has literally spelt out that something has to happen before any movement. It is literally a waste of any energy when people are falling into despair every time a twitter page they've never heard of before throws out some nonsense. Once they have signed the player and that checkpoint has been reached then yes it's time to be worried if we don't hear anything in the days after that has happened.

We paid real money for Clinton Njie. He owes us everything.

That's a strong opinion but I kind of agree, there's almost no point him staying here if we're not willing to compete.

Well not getting Ndombele wouldn't mean we're not willing to compete, it would all depend on what we would then go on to do if that were to happen. For all we know we could have a fee agreed with a strong wage package for him but he'd prefer to go to another team that may seem more appealing to him for personal reasons.

I personally think it would be more accurate to question Poch's will after the window has closed and we know who we've got in as opposed to whether we sign one player or not.

There is an argument of not willing v not able.. The later would be more appropriate when you consider that we will never have the resources to compete with the teams bank rolled by actual nations.

OK, but if we're in uncharted territory then there is no history on which to base your pessimism.

We will make the best offer we can to Lyon, Ndombélé and his agent. If that offer is equal or better than those of the other teams you mention then the only one that currently represents a better option than us is Real.

People on SC absolutely hate Dier.

He had a season with moaninhio messing with his head (as he does) followed by a injury plagued one.
I'm hoping we are going to see a fully focused dier this season fighting fit and raring to go with a point to prove.
Not sure everyone hates him on here.
