Does he normally not post what others are reporting then quickly removes it when it doesn’t materialise? Then if you look back on his ‘record’ it appears more accurate than it actually should be...or have I confused him with someone else? (n)

Nope he basically only reports a deal being negotiated, if it genuinely is likely to happen

Think you're confusing him with our good friend Lyall

I think you're confusing him with someone else. He's a local reporter who has a good relationship with the club.

Basically what the other guys already said. In fact he only usually speaks up to deny other stories. This type of article is quite rare from him.

It isn’t hard to deny any transfer rumour when your club doesn’t sign players :cautious:

Ali Gold is the kind of source (alongside the rest of that clan) that gets a bad review sometimes because he doesn't give people their daily fix of news and he normally just ruins dreams (like JJ here). However, the reality is things don't progress every day and most rumours are rubbish so they are actually spot on. If they talk, listen.

And I don't imagine the club would be displaying any kind of confidence without reason.

Hi, journalist here with 15 years of experience in the business - although news and not sport - and a good knowledge of how this stuff works.

It seems credible to me.

AG is a journalist who is drip-fed by the club. I have argued with him before about this saying he's too reliant on the club to hand him stories and therefore he's too close to piss them off. He denies this, as he would and should, but regardless of that it means in a case like this he's probably not talking out of his arse as he wouldn't rock the boat by reporting something completely untrue.

My guess is that he's heard it's happening and there will be an announcement soon, it's just he's trying to get in there first with the story without breaking any embargo or trust.

It's a classic carefully worded story and reading between the lines I'd say... it's ON!

Trawling through Red Cafe. Consensus that they (ManU) were scouting him last year but he backed away from plans to join them when it became apparent they wouldn't be offering CL football.

Apparently.
