He's a great player and had shown himself to possess genuinely quality but I dont think anybody would argue that this hasn't been his best season, especially since the turn of the year
I fully agree that he’s had a worse season than we’ve come to expect from him, but for anyone to say he has been, to paraphrase, ‘terrible for the majority of the sesson’ is at best gross exaggeration.

Come round to him going. To be honest, he is not the type of player who is going to drag us up when it's not going for us. Majority of the time, he shows up when those around him are having a good game. Yes he is a good player no doubt but just looks like he is going a bit stale after 6 years at us. He is good but I'm not convinced he is a Real Madrid level player.

Eriksen is a brilliant player, and can do some amazing things. He just doesn’t do it consistently. If he goes to Madrid or Barca, he’ll be in the same boat as Coutinho in a years time, being offloaded for the next flavour of the month signing.

Let's not start deluding ourselves about his quality just because he appears to be off.

Our most important player of the Poch reign, maybe not the best but who was more important?

Keeps us ticking, links it all and presses well. He isn't very flashy in terms of skills or dribbling but he scored and created goals consistently for 6 years.

A top quality player, maybe not the highest level but we will do very well to replace him. Lo Celso AND Ndombele together may help.

He should leave with good wishes, he helped bring us from top 6 to top 3 team. A great attitude for 90% of it, fair enough he hasn't had the best 6 months but who has apart from Son? He's been very good for us and I wish him well in the future.

Im not going to discuss his ability.

I just think the squad needs a tweak.
Where we once had the youngest average age, it's starting to creak.

My hope (blind, and despite all the evidence) is that we act swiftly now. If Eriksen has made it clear he's not singing a contract, we should actively look to move him on.
Yes, that may mean Levy picking up the phone and talking to the teams Eriksen is willing to sign for. Holding out until the last day of the window just causes a summer of disruption.

I doubt we need the cash to come in before we replace him, but we do need to make this a less painful summer than we're usually used to.

I think the consistency doubt is why the top teams passed on him when we signed him originally but he has delivered enough over a season for the teams that demand a guaranteed success to be interested clearly

I do think his all round running and the fact that he is rarely injured are overlooked a bit

It’s clearly time for a new challenge for him - all the best. Who we replace him with is critical given there is no one in our squad that does what he does for us

That said talking with some random Madrid fans this weekend out and about and their expectation levels are just so high that CE is bound to disappoint if the much more forgiving Spurs fans have some questions

They also Hate Bale - lots of gags about him being one of the highest paid golfers in the world

As has been said already if he is ready to leave, and at this stage until any deal is done it's still not certain, if he allegedly thinks he's good enough to get into the Barcelona or Real Madrid team and be adored by their fans he needs to take a long good look at Bale and Coutinho. As good as he is and there no doubting his class he will have to go some and then more to win them over, and in my opinion if he does leave now he is at no higher level than either of Bale's or Coutinho's level when they left he needs to realise that he has his work seriously cut out. Not even a superb out of this world goal in a CL final has cut it for Bale with the RM fans and Christian ain't even got anywhere near one of them yet.

I think his performance on Saturday dissapointed me more than anyone elses. In that sort of game he really should have been the one grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and dragging everyone else forward with him - we've said this many times about him before but, for me at least, on saturday it really stood out.

He's got us out of a hole a number of times - see Inter and Brighton at home this year - but too often on the biggest stage he doesn't quite do enough. On that basis i kind of question whether Madrid or Barca would come in for him?

We're certainly a better side with him around but we do need more from him more often. Maybe it's a competition thing and if we were to add the likes of Lo Celso, Bale etc it would give him a kick up the back side. Who knows.

IMO it's a case of it being very difficult for Eriksen to perform well when the whole team is under par and disjointed. Having said that, there are elements that are nothing to do with other players like free kicks and corners where he really has been pretty awful. I think we are a much, much better team with him in it under any circumstances but I also think it's been a very difficult season for him to shine for a whole load of reasons. Squad needs a refresh but I'd absolutely love Eriksen to stick around for the simple reason that I think a few fresh faces and we'd see the very best of him straight away.

There was one moment where Trippier saved a crossfield ball from going out, laid it back to Eriksen who was in the perfect position to put it into the box, and he just laid it back to Sissoko, I think. Summed up our lack of cutting edge perfectly.

Speaking to some Madrid fans over the weekend - they all thought Eriksen was nowhere near good enough for Real and that he'd have a very tough time if he went there.

I agree that the general disjointed season we've had has not played into anyone's hands and not made it easy. However, and i appreciate Hazard is a completely different player, look at the impact Hazard has in a similarly disjointed Chelsea team. I want Eriksen to have that impact, in his own way, for us and he doesn't do it enough, particualry in the very biggest games.

That said, i hope he is here next season and like you say benefits from some competition and some fresh faces in the squad. A good break will also do him good, he's played an awful lot of footfall as a result of our diminished squad and transfer failings.

They voted Modric the worst signing of that particular summer and they completely boo Bale despite him showing up and deciding big matches, Real Madrid fans are idiots.

I think he wants to go and there’s been talk he wants to try things out in Spain.

He may be a bit mad though as Real Madrid fans as stated above already don’t seem too keen and they don’t treat their players very well there and throw them away when new toys become available.

And look at Countinho at Barca - they busted their guts to unsettle him and now after season and a half just want to chuck him away it seems. Madness...

And Eriksen is kinda laid back and we have been very supportive of him, can’t see the Spanish fans being the same.

For first couple of seasons Eriksen was VERY hot and cold, but then season and a half before this he was pretty consistently quality and hub of team.

This season he’s still been good but slipped into bad habits a bit maybe.

This could be because his heart isn’t completely in it, which for me shows a slight bit of poor mentality as likes of Modric gave 100% even after he’d been a bit naughty trying to push move to Chelsea.

Personally and I like to think I’m not being erase-tinted, with the quality we have and looking to build on and our new stadium I think he’s kinda mad if he wants to jump ship.

If players like him, Kane, Son, DELE (yes you Dele, need to do better than this season) and Moura play to their maximum and we get in required engine room midfielders I really can’t see why we can’t be challenging at top table next season.

They really are!

Especially as Modric has gone on to be probably their best player over the years.

They’re like spoilt brats.

And their treatment of Bale is absolutely disgraceful.

Was about to say, they crucify basically every player of theirs. Benzema, Ronaldo got shit from them, Isco, Ramos, Bale, Courtouis, etc. They're just a bunch of complainers.

I mentioned in one of the other threads that Eriksen became a Dad (Erikdad?) for the first time last June. I wouldn't be surprised if this has had a bit of an impact on his performances. I'm sure one of our other players was effected by becoming a father a little while ago.

https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnati...christian-eriksen-baby-born-denmark-world-cup

Erikdad love it ha ha!

It was Trippier who’s performances were affected (:eek: ) as the baby was keeping him and his missus up. I THINK Poch possibly gave him a little time off to rest up a bit more and he came back a lot better? We had Walker back then too so wasn’t as massive a deal resting him.
