One of the world's best central midfielders averaging 3 goal and 4 assists a season in a team where he was the central cog on the entire team and almost everything went through him. And you still say it's a central midfielder's job to contribute to goals?

I said "help".

That doesn't mean bang 10 goals a season. We have offensive players to do that.

And you choose to ignore, anything other than goals.

Because the issue I took is with your claim that central midfielders are required to contribute to goals.

In our system, it's Winks' job to take the ball from defense and move it forward to Eriksen, Alli or Son who are in the more advanced roles to create the goal scoring chances. And you're comparing him to Lo Celso, who has played most of the season in Eriksen's position.

I'm comparing him to Lo Celso, because I think he would play deeper for us, and not the #10 position.

Lo Celso is better than Winks defensively, even when he plays as #10 for Betis.

All i'm really saying is, I think we can do better than what Winks is currently offering. It being N'Dombele or Lo Celso is fine for me, but CM should be trop priority this summer.

I agree that CM is our top priority, but can't help but think we will end up with Andre Gomes.

I seriously hope I'm wrong because we have a genuine appeal to a lot of top players. .

I just hope we have the balls to back it up.

Ah, the Winks discussion. The easiest way to separate those who know football and those who haven't a clue.

Weird being in this thread though considering he and Lo Celso are completely different types of players.

If anything, Lo Celso is a hybrid between the best of Winks and the best of Eriksen. But I would rather he joins the squad as an addition rather than a replacement for either of these two.

Sorry if this has been already said but hasn't Real Betis just signed him up on a permanent deal now?? If that's the case why if he wanted to go to Spurs?

If you were playing in a CL final in less than a week the last thing you'd want is the players getting wind of possible incomings and departures. It's quiet for good reason
I do actually agree with you but there’s always a reason - WC etc etc

BBC reporting it is usually a good sign that there is something in it, and backs up some ITK hints in here. Looks a real class act and can play various roles.

Only worry is if it's because Eriksen is off...
