Tottenham transfer news: Napoli in pole position to sign Kieran Trippier this summer

Trippier has three years left on the contract he signed in the summer of 2017, but at 28 years old he is keen on the prospect of a move abroad and the deal on offer from Napoli

Napoli are in pole position to sign Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The England right-back will be allowed to leave White Hart Lane for the right offer, and the Italian side are confident of reaching a deal for a fee of roughly £25m.

Trippier has three years left on the contract he signed in the summer of 2017, but at 28 years old he is keen on the prospect of a move abroad and the deal on offer from Napoli. He has been Spurs' first-choice right-back for the last two years, after Kyle Walker was sold to Manchester City, and he has successfully held off the challenge to his place after Serge Aurier arrived from PSG.

Trippier has attracted interest since his impressive performances for England at last year's World Cup, and was keen on a move to Manchester United last summer, when Ed Woodward wanted to take him to Old Trafford. But he is now set to lend his four-year association with Spurs this summer, as the start of a busy summer of transfers for Tottenham.

Bye

I say in the misguided hope we have someone better lined up as a replacement.

25m would be pretty good business considering he's 28.

Italian league would suit him as well I think.

The Italian league will definitely suit him. It’s a lot slower and way more defensive than the PL.

With that said, we’ll still get people pining for him back when he starts playing well out there. If that happens, I’ll have the full force of the transfer law enforcement (@THFCSPURS19) knocking at your door.

Who are we realistically going to sign with the money that's better than Trippier?

Only acceptable replacement would have been Wan-Bissaka but he's being touted at over £50m now by papers.

Could do with some back-up tbh.

We could sign someone for 15m who could be amazing or we could sign someone for 40m who could be awful, let’s hope our scouts get this one right, makes so much difference having a great full back

I reckon I wouldn't be too much worse than Trippier and I'd cost a fiver at most

If we sell him and Aurier we could have a decent budget for a new first team RB with KWP as a ready made back up.
