I loved Bale but there is some serious revisionist history - can't be bothered to do too much digging but will leave these two quotes here as rebutal:

"Nobody knows Gareth's state of mind because he doesn't speak," he said. "The only thing we see is the player arriving in and out of the training ground. But it's fine. Ideally we'd like him to stay here. This is where his future is. "
AVB

“This summer there has been interest in their Coach and their best player [Bale] - and they have been clear they both are not going anywhere. When my agent made me aware that Tottenham were interested I knew it would not be a move that I could turn down.” “To play in England for a great team like Tottenham is a dream. What I respect about Tottenham is the ambition they have shown.”
Paulinho

I think this can be chalked up to salesmanship from us, I don't expect a prospective signing to have the inside scoop.

we won't be spending most of our budget on him though.

he will either come here on loan if we can sort a deal out, and Real Madrid will be paying the MAJORITY of his wages, or he will be coming here on a FREE with his next 3 years wages already paid, and will become very rich with a signing on fee from us, and a wage around Kane.

to many people on here think we will be paying a large fee, and have to pay him £650k per week, well sorry your wrong(y)

I was thinking more of our wage budget. We need at least 3 maybe 4 new quality players, in specific areas. Anyone good enough is gonna be asking for at least what, 80 to 150k or higher a week? We all know what Levy's like, and If bringing in Bale, means we're unable to sign a couple of those players, then I don't think we should imo.

Madrid would have to pay a fair chunk of his wages, that's true. But if you think Madrid are gonna practically give him away, no matter how desperate they are to get shot. then I think you're wrong(y);)

Josef Pedrerol (Real Madrid journalist) saying we've enquired about Asensio. Madrid then pointed to his 700mil release clause.

I see his name alot regarding Madrid transfers so had no idea. But good to know, I'm not sure what to think about Asensio at this point. He looked like he was on the verge of becoming a star in 17/18 but then fluttered this past season. Probably not fair to judge anyone on Madrid individually after their mess of a season.

Your right they won’t give him away for nothing, it’s going to cost them 1 of 3

1, 650k to train with the kids and play golf
2, between half or 2 thirds as a loan and the rest paid as a loan fee
3, they will have to pay his contract off in full and then release him for free

Unfortunately RM are not in a position with the world knowing they want him out. The best option might be number 3 for us. If he has already been paid for 3 years, and he knows he will never pick up such a large contract fee, he might settle for a signing on fee and a sensible wage

Edit: and let him keep his image rights

39 pages in 9 days. True or false it’s why the media is talking constantly about it. It drives clicks

I think you posted pretty much the same to me the other day, to be honest I didn't take much notice of AVB, when he says he doesn't speak my understanding is he didn't speak about the transfer, probably the best option with AVB as he wasn't exactly circumspect with a microphone in front of him.

Eriksen is only going if he's offered a dream move (so he says) and there hasn't been any sign of that materialising yet.
The dream move was to Real Madrid though so who knows what's going on or will go on after the final before which, we have been told, there will be no transfer discussion.

It’s 39 pages because people keep posting the same crap over and over.

It goes in a cycle. First someone says he’d be a great signing, then someone says “don’t do it to yourselves.” Then someone says he’s injury prone and too expensive. Then someone says he’s not injury prone. Then someone suggests this will only happen if he takes a pay cut. Then someone talks about those fake twitter quotes. Then someone else points out they are fake. Then someone says he’s still world class.

Then the cycle begins again.

I think they’d give him away for nothing in a heartbeat. He doesn’t have to leave, though. For him to leave, they’ll almost certainly have to pay someone to take him.

Problem is how much of his wage he is willing to sacrifice since there is only a handful of clubs around the world who could afford his current wages
I do wonder if his contract with Adidas will play a part in any transfer. A team like United (sponsored by adidas) may get part of his wage subsidized if he were to go to them. Him not playing at RM is definitely hurting his brand's image.

I don't think being a Spurs player would harm his brand!

I don't think option three is viable It's the worse one. As they pay his wages and don't get a fee for him! The best option for them would be a transfer and pay half the wages. The transfer would be more of a compensation of sorts to them for the remaining contract rather than a huge fee.
Any option where they have to pay all his wages looks poor to them.

trouble is there are only 2 clubs that will pay half, would he want to go to France. the only other would be United as I really don't think Liverpool or Man C would take him
