If Sissoko gets a last minute goal in the final would that change opinion? Always find it odd when the season isn’t over to give out these awards...

I am season ticket holder and when I got the email I voted for Sissoko. Same on your poll. He was hard done by.

Son has clearly been the difference maker for us this season. His goals have been crucial to us getting anywhere. Sissoko is loved as an underdog who has come from being useless to being a decent player in his limited but important role. Poch has done a great job in converting him to the role and with no Dembele, Dier or Wanyama his has risen to the challenge well. But it is just sentiment to consider him the player of the season

Those are my onions anyway
I was of the same opinion until about 6 weeks ago, but I've come full circle. He's not just decent at the moment - he's really bloody good.

I'm very educated and fully appreciate what sissoko does but I still voting for son. If he didnt step up when kane was out we would be fucked

I know Sissoko has been more consistent but I feel some of our feelings are to do with the shock of his transformation

Obviously he would win most improved player but son scored some massive goals for us when we needed them the most

It's the transformation but also the fact in a season where we have not put the shifts in that you expect the players to put in, sissoko did just that. There were games that was clearly the difference maker hence he had so many man of the matches. If its just sentiment cos of how much he improved but he still not a good player then the other players should be ashamed of themselves for not putting the effort in. But I'm not taking it away from Sissoko on the belief that is just other players playing below. 1) cos it's not fair when he clearly was our best player in so many games 2) we are fcuked if it's cos so many players have played below their ability that Sissoko was made to look good. That's a problem with the manager and the squad, if true.

Oh and I didn't want Sissoko anywhere near our team at the beginning of the season

I went with Son for the official vote. Goals win games and he stepped up with Harry out injured. Sissoko has been good too but its all onions.

But Sissoko is not not being judged on goals.

If that's your mindset, might as well rule out all the defenders as well for player of the season.

Son and Sissoko are completely different footballers, providing different roles.

Poll?

Anyway trippier naturally
easier to do sissoko's job consistently than it is to do son's.

While I agree with your collective assessment of Son, there is one thing that you all did not mention. And that is because of his dominance and work rate, Sissoko made it easier for Son to perform the way he did. Surely that should count for something?

Son, as a forward, failed to score a single league goal until late November. He's then scored one in our last eleven games. He's very good at adding goals when we're doing well - but he hasn't been consistent, hasn't dragged the team upwards when they've been struggling, and very nearly cost us 4th with his temper tantrum last week. Still rates as very good because of that insane patch for half the season in the middle and the goals against City, but that form is not enough to be Player of the Year. Sissoko has worked incredible hard, performed well all season, and done so despite some shocking abuse from our so-called "supporters". He 100% deserved the award.

I wanted to vote for Sonny but my uncle Kim doesn’t approve me of voting for South Koreans.

It’s a joke. FFS!

Player of the season should be all about consistency over the course of the season on that basis it has to be Sissoko

Is there any way to aggregate the voting percentages in each match ratings thread for the season? (without trawling through each one and making an excel lol)

I would have given it to Toby for his consistency in defence. However I understand why Son got it too. Sissoko was a transformed player, but there can be only one winner. So I'll live with it.

I'd have given it to Alderweireld, personally.

My broadcaster broke away from the feed. Did we get a farewell from Toby to the crowd? I have this nagging feeling he'll leave on a free next year or sin a deal at some stage.. It's my hope that he does.
