I'd argue that's not the case, as long as we keep it tight, we always readjust and improve vastly in the second half. As long as we are in the game come 2nd half then we have an excellent shot.

Yeah but playing with intensity off the ball against Liverpool is vital. Give them time and space and the tie really could be over by HT.

A hard working, tactically aware game plan is what is needed.

This is a tough one to call. There is no doubt that when big Ferdinand has come on in the EC games he has been instrumental in us winning those games one way or the other. There is an argument to support that if he hadn't come on we may not have reached the final. Also, with Harry implying he may be fit, but he will have had no game time since the 9th of April. I think starting with both on the bench possibly may happen as the matches against City and Ajax have proved that Lucas, Sonny, Christan and Dele are more than capable of setting up and scoring the goals we needed. It depends on whether the risk of aggravating his ankle is worth taking. Sissoko, Toby and Jan are a must for me with Rose. I think Wanyama and Warry Winks if match fit - otherwise Sanchez if fit. I am always concerned when Dier is on the pitch these days. I think we need the speed of Aurier for the other fullback. Hugo must be our goalie but with fingers crossed he doesn't have one of his rash moments.

We have beaten Borussia who were top of their league when we did it. We have beaten City who currently are sitting top of our league, we have beaten Ajax who are top of their league. Winning the final with that track record surely it must be within our grasp to win the final.

Yeah I think we need to be defensively astute but people always go on about us going at it from the first minute, truth is all our best results the past 18 months we've actually been fairly poor in the first half and then stepped up second half. So I'd say it's okay we don't go gung ho at it from the off aslong as we don't go 2/3 down, let's keep it tight and we will get the job done in the second half.

I agree, just saying keeping it tight involves working hard not just sitting sort of deep.

But yeah, we seem to get on top physically in the second half of games.

I know the Everton game comes first but ideally, who would you pick... Just for a bit of fun now.

My team would be, bearing in mind its Liverpool and assuming Kane is fit:

Lloris

Aurier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose

Sissoko
Eriksen

Lucas
Dele
Son

Kane

Really like that team but would want a fit Winks in there. No idea who I would drop from that line-up though!

Controlling midfield will be key. Liverpool were like animals v Barca, hunting down loose balls in packs.

Need Winks and Sissoko.

Yeah for sure, I just doubt in an attacking sense that we will be gung-ho from the off, I think we will need to absorb a lot of early pressure.

Harry Kane to come off the bench for one kick when we get the match deciding penalty in extra time

Back 5 pick themselves. It would crazy to pick Aurier over Trippier without match fitness.

I think the midfield 3 pick themselves too because Wanyama and Dier are horribly out of form and also short of match fitness. We cant afford to start slow and with being a once off final, i would back the likes of Eriksen and Dele sacrificing a little of their offensive game and sit deeper. At least for first half.

Front 3 is to replicate Liverpool's front 3 to have speed on the wings with Son and Lucas starting. This is to also give Alexander-Arnold and Robertson something to think about defensively. Kane is our talisman and must start if fit.

I dont think Winks after groin surgery is going to be fit for the bench. I would also leave out Foyth due to his inexperience, although he could be swapped for Dier.

I think if we play 2 holding midfielders we are asking for trouble. If we setup too defensively with 3 centre backs we are asking for trouble.

Be brave and bold. Attack Liverpool immediately from kickoff.

Like this team, no guarantee this would win ofc, but i would be confident that this team going forward would cause them lots of problems.
There is an argument we would need a holding player in there, but Wanyama and Dier have been so off it i would sooner gamble on an attacking team like above.

Its gonna be a long 3 weeks waiting for the biggest game of my lifetime, i was at the Lane in 84 Uefa final, and it was one of the greatest nights of my life, didn't go to college for days after so hungover and drained , the party in the high road went on till dawn.....

It's so hard to pick a team without knowing who is going to be fit. We also have no DM that is fit or in form, so if everyone's fit it's actually tempting not to play one. I kinda want to see this team. It could work out incredibly, it could also be a disaster, but it is pretty much what we played in that second half against Ajax, with one obvious change:

Lloris
Trippier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
Sissoko
Eriksen - Dele
Lucas - Kane - Son

Gazzaniga - Sanchez - Davies - Dier - Winks - Lamela - Llorente

He cannot play Victor again in a big game. Feel sorry for the bloke as he was such a midfield powerhouse but now he isn’t half the player he was. Easily knocked off the ball. Dier should be fit for the final , poss Winkson the bench.

Despite his exploits I wouldn’t be fully averse to Lucas missing out from the start. Plus, I already have images of him coming on for the last half hour plus any extra time and making himself the hero once again. His pace and tenaciousness in the latter third of the game could be decisive.

This on the understanding that Kane is fit and starting and we need to take out out one of Son, Ali, Lucas or Eriksen.

Liverpool play 4-3-3 with the full backs giving them width, the 3 in the middle putting in a shift to cover the ground to allow their forward 3 to play with freedom. We can pretty much guess their starting XI and how they'll approach the game. The decision for Poch is does he try and match them, or do we exert a game plan of our own.

If we opt to match and go with 3 up top (e.g. Son-Kane-Moura) then we'll need a more workmanlike midfield meaning both Alli and Eriksen may be a luxury. At least one may need to give way. If we go for the 4-2-3-1 we played against them in the league this season, then one of Moura or Son may not start and we'll need a passer next to Sissoko, so a fit Winks would be ideal.

Think it will be wise to play Foyth at right back again, like we've done against City recently.

You can not leave out Dele, sorry.

His pass in the dying seconds is a massive reason we're in the final.

The composure, awareness and execution of that pass in the last seconds was stunning.

He must start. And in the number ten position where he's best.

He has the mentalilty to stand up under real pressure.
