Van De Beek feels like a flavour of the month signing to me.
His performances have been impressive of late, no doubt, but he's often mentioned as a replacement of Eriksen. Van De Beek is not a playmaker - Ajax have Frenkie De Jong for that. We need to replace Eriksen (if he goes) with someone who can dictate play...

The problem is Davy Klaassen flopped in PL. Has a similar feel for some reason.

That's why I chose to look at his exploits in the Champions league this season as opposed to solely the Eredivisie.

That said, Tadic who pretty much bombed in the Premier league has better returns than Beek in this seasons Champions league.

But I still believe Beek has the tools to succeed in the Premier league.

Many times I read we need to act smartly before a player reaches the dizzy heights of superstar status. That means were going to have to take a punt on one or two.

This season Beek has performed well in both the Eredivisie and Champions league. He can't do anymore than that.

I see some of your comments here. We are not an ajax. Ok its all well and good buying younger talents to develop but this is long term and it will prob make us a top 4 team. If we want to challenge for trophies we need to buy proven players! We have to move past the stage of buying these younger players that will probably provide us with tidy profit but also cost us in terms of performance

But does your argument really stack up ??

De Jong off to Barca. How many gutted we got close but no cigar. Proven outside Eredivisie? Nope. Young? Yep.

Repeat with de Ligt who'll most probably follow De Jong to Barca.

Again, how many clambering for Sancho.

There are loads I could mention that are young, we dithered or made tentative moves to consider signing for them to end up going elsewhere and excelling whilst we're left moaning why didn't we act.

Not every player will excel, nor will they bomb. Risk element to be considered. But him assisting and scoring certainly goes some way to reducing the risk.

Heck, might even be worth a punt whilst we can almost afford him. Certainly nullify the need for moaning 'why didn't we act when we had the chance'.

Who knows, but I'll stand by my thinking that I see no evidence as of yet why he couldn't nor shouldn't be considered an option. (y)

Hearing Dan James reps are holding talks with Leicester,Arsenal.

Would have liked him at Spurs. Was kinda hoping we could have sorted something out with CCV going the other way if he fancied it.

Watched him a few times this season and has more about him than just pace. That said, feck he's rapid.

You can feck right off if you think I'm having Lallana as an upgrade to our signings now next seasons Champions league qualification is all but secured.

Medical team say NO.
