List of Players whose contracts are up this summer:

Will probably be slated for this, but we could do worse than Mata on a free. He wouldn't be a bad option off the bench to bring a bit of creative spark to our attack.

I would agree, a load of people laughed at Liverpool when they hoovered up Milner the other year and he ended up being their most consistent player I would say.

As much as youth is pivotal, you need an experienced head or two in and around the squad.
Mata can play across that 3 behind Kane and has a creative spark to unlock those tight defences, as well as goals in his locker.

We could do worse.

Trying to be as realistic as possible. Given that Eriksen is probably off, I would like us to switch to a similar style formation wise to City, sort of like a 4-3-3 with one of the midfielders playing in a more advanced role and the other two sitting deeper. I think going into the new stadium we'll need to show some ambition by buying one special player, and I think Sancho really fits our club well. Still really young, I'm guessing we'd have no trouble to pay him his desired wages, I have no doubt that he dreams of coming back to England, and I think he'd fit in with the rest of our English players. Levy has proven that he is not afraid to buy youth even at a premium as he's done with Sanchez. With Sancho, in five years time, he'd get over double what he'd pay to buy him now. I think it's a gamble worth taking, and with the Eriksen money, we'd surely have the money to spend.

OUT:
Vorm - Free
Trippier - 25mill
Alderweireld - 25mill
Wanyama - 15mill
Eriksen - 70mill
Nkoudou - 8mill
Janssen - 8mill
Llorente - Free
KWP - Loan
Onomah - Loan
CCV - Loan
Total Income: 151mill

IN:
AWB - 45mill
Ake - 30mill
Grealish - 30mill
Brooks - 40 mill
Sancho - 75mill
Total Spent: 220mill
Net Spend = 69mill

Squad List:
GK: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Whiteman
RB: AWB, Aurier
RCB: Sanchez, Foyth
LCB: Vertonghen, Ake
LB: Rose, Davies
CM1: Dier, Sissoko
CM2: Winks, Grealish, Skipp
CAM: Alli, Brooks
RW: Sancho, Lucas
ST: Kane, Parrott
LW: Son, Lamela
I don't see how a £69m net spent is 'realistic'.

Older players can be a bit hit and miss, but like you said look at how Milner has done at Liverpool since making the move and you can clearly see there is a bit of value if the right player is available.

Mata is extremely versatile and can really pick a lock with a pass or two, I think he still has a good 3-5 years in him regardless of his age because his skillset isn't based around pace or movement that usually dissipates with age so he has a good few left in him.

Tagliafoco has been very good on their CL run, but he’s not the kind of FB that most on here crave. Not a real pacy guy, more creative, maybe in the sort of Marcos Alonso mould.

His agent seems to be punting his name around to all and sundry since the winter transfer window closed.

Mata is not good enough. He's basically Lamela, just scores a bit more.

Rather get Perisic if we should go the Older-route.

I just can't wait to see the effect our stadium is gonna have on hopefully attracting quality players and also hopefully meaning we can compete financially more! :joyful:

I don't see how a £69m net spent is 'realistic'.

Why not? We haven’t spent 1penny in the last two transfer windows, and if I take into account the sale of Dembele with our income, the net spend would decrease to 59million pounds. Doesn’t sound unrealistic to me.

I really wanted Milner back then. The perfect utility player.

I don't think Mata is much like Lamela at all. Whilst Lamela is the sort to put himself about, break up play and earn himself the odd yellow card, Mata is a calm presence. Where Lamela's final ball has often been lacking for us Mata has been putting teammates through on goal and contributing to build-up play consistently for years. Where Lamela hasn't found the net very often, Mata has, well, a bit more anyway.

A free-transfer Mata could be an excellent bit of business, whereas Inter reportedly want £30mil for Perisic (though he's quite a different player again anyway).

Sancho may be worth all that money, but Levy is never spunking that on him, let's be honest.

Doubly so given that he was £8m 1.5 years ago and his pride (and business tinglers) would never let him get taken for that much money in such a short space of time.

Because we never have a big net spend. You can dream about having a transfer window like that but the past tells us it is not realistic.

i also think levy won't pay for sancho but i think he spent 40m+ on sanchez just one year after ajax signed him for a few millions...

That’s a classic SC/FM transfer wish list thread post that. Massive list of Outs, big list of young English players, even got all the made up values and “net spend” bit, love it.

Wasn’t there a rumour we tried to get him in the last days of the summer window?

As far as I can remember we did try to get him in during the last week of the window but that was around the time Moureen had put him back into the starting 11 and there was no way Moureen was going to let him leave at that stage.

There were rumors floating around that he was keen on the move though, so hopefully if we sneak in an offer he is still up for it.
