It’ll be more than that because so many clubs want him. We don’t tend to get involved in auctions.

Oh agree buddy. I was just pointing out to @spursfan77 that, if we really want a player, the (touted) £40m certainly isn't a figure we would run away from.

I think we've proven we'll pay the right fee for the right player.

Just to put it out there. Bale refused to celebrate with his team and pushed them away when they tried to yesterday when he scored the pen. He wasn't happy and his body language showed he didn't want to be there

He's obviously not been happy happy with some of the stick he's been getting from his team-mates about not learning the language and being tagged as "The Golfer". Yet all the noise from the Spanish press is that he wants to stay, and if he leaves it'll be because Real will force him out. I guess that would be more likely if the likes of Ramos push for it, as he basically runs the club below Perez.

It was only Vasquez he didn't celebrate with. He low-fived a couple of others, but the celebrations were muted. The commentators seemed to think it was because he's not starting and isn't happy with the manager.

One player I'm not seeing us linked with but I'd like to is Julian Brandt. Especially if we can't keep Eriksen. He's nothing like Eriksen but he's a brilliant player that can play multiple positions.

He already turned down Bayern last summer and for whatever reason most of the giant clubs don't really seem to be pushing hard for him. I think we could swoop in and steal him similar to the way we stole Eriksen from Ajax when everybody knew who he was but nobody bigger than us seemed to want him.

I really think we will only see one non homegrown player brought in, and I can see us adding depth to the team, as our first XI goes toe to toe with anybody, but our depth is where we’re restricted.

I think we need a new RB for the first team, Wan Bissaka is the obvious choice. The guy is fantastic. I would be happy us sending KWP there for a season on loan or one of Aurier or Trips there, they would be good players for palace, they are just not at our level.

I think we will try get 2 CM’s in the summer, one of which will be a non-homegrown marquee signing. Someone like N’Dombele, Rabiot or something would be where I can see us being. We should try go for a younger, HG midfielder too, the likes of Billing if Hudd go down would be a nice option, or Loftus Cheek, if he forces a move from Chelsea!

I would love to see us go for that young CB at Heerenveen. 17/18 YO, amazing comfortable on the ball, could learn a lot from Jan, and him and Sanchez/Foyth, could be amazing in the future, would hopefully not cost much either...

Then a young HG WF would be great, Che Adams, or Dan James would be ideal, maybe even Ademola Lookman if Everton would let go. Someone explosive who can score too.

I think 5 In is not unrealistic. 2 of those would be first team additions, 3 would be younger intergrations. With the sales of deadwood from the squad, we could do this with like a 50m net. We really don’t need to break the bank to make nice improvements for our club!

I really like him also. However, I REALLY like Kai Havertz. IF Christian goes, he is the most "potential" like for like at Bayer.
Fuck it lets get both! Its a wish list aint it! (y)

Our first 11 used to go toe-to-toe but we are worse off now in terms of central midfield and fullback (minus Rose, who I don't trust his health) with the losses of Dembele, Walker not properly replaced and Wanyama falling off the map.

I do like our chances against any team in the world so long as Kane, Eriksen, and the Ajax 3 are in the lineup, though. Its just some of the pieces around them have gotten worse.

I watched Anderson yesterday. He didn't have much defending to do but his distribution and composure on the ball was pretty good. I can see why we're taking a look.

Interesting most think lamela and/or moura aren’t up to it.

Lamela has had many chances and unfortunately not stepped up and shown he's good enough - time to go

Would keep Moura around for at least another season because he's shown some quality early on this season and I think there's a good player there

Only players that are untouchable to be upgraded for me are Kane, Eriksen, Son, Dele, Jan, Toby, Sanchez, and Lloris in the starting 11, and don't want us to move Dier or Winks. Everyone else should be looking at getting replaced in the starting 11 or being replaced with better depth players.

Lamela is one of those players whose stats suggest he is having real, tangible influence on games. When you watch is performances however, he more often than not leaves you frustrated.

One of many with question marks come the summer.

Generally agree, although I do think Eriksen and Toby are gone this summer...but that list is the core list that I wouldn't move otherwise. I'd probably throw Winks in there too. Everyone else can be improved upon and is fair game.

As some other posters have alluded to earlier in the thread, it seems that Martin Odegaard is beginning to show the qualities that saw him join Real Madrid as a 16 year old. He has been excellent for Vitesse this season, and if Eriksen were to move to Real Madrid, I’d love to see this guy involved in that deal.

There are a few question marks regarding his physical dynamism (although he looks stronger nowadays) and goal output, but his technique and vision is genuinely elite-level, or at least something approaching that mark. He has something of the Toni Kroos about him; in his style, composure and ability.

A compilation from his performance for Vitesse this weekend...

A frightening reality.

I think Winks is an improvable position but I obviously want to keep him and wouldn't think about selling him. I mean pretty much everyone agrees that CM is our biggest need. Including Poch it seems based off targets we've heard (De Jong, Kovacic, Ndombele) that we are and were looking for a premier type player there.

I know it's been said for yonks but this summer's transfer window really does feel like the most pivotal in recent memory and the club must get it right.

We have a couple of contracts expiring (Vorm, Llorente) plus a couple who may go (Eriksen & Toby) and Dembele just left. We also have some (Trippier, Aurier, Jansenn, N'Koudou etc) who are not up to the desired level if Poch wants to target the major trophies and Big Vic is broken.

The contractual players (Dembele, Vorm, Llorente, Toby, Eriksen), leaves potentially 5 gaps to fill, of which all bar Vorm (replace with HG), have played significant minutes this season (Mousa played quite a bit till his injury). I can see Toby going and I think Eriksen is 50:50. Jansenn and N'Koudou don't need replacing but we definitely need better full back and centre mid options.

Can anyone see us buying at least 3/4 1st teamers (ideally 6 - 2xFB's, CD, 2xCM, WF/ST) plus maybe a couple for squad depth? I'm pessimistic.

Piss poor planning to be in such a situation. Finishing in the top 4 this season would paper over the cracks and cannot ever be repeated.

I think a lot of the 'piss poor planning' revolved around not getting the stadium up and running with the increased revenue stream, and not securing a multi multi million pound naming rights deal. Get those 2 things sorted and we should be back in business. The fly in the ointment is that we absolutely have to secure CL qualification.
