Adams is great but he’s not ready for Spurs yet. Also he only officially moved to Germany in January. Can’t see RBL flipping a player they only brought in 6 months ago. But a year or two from now I think he will get a big move. He’s been playing in the MLS since he was 16. He’s already got 3 starts for RBL and has looked like he belonged. Him and McKinnie are going to be the midfield for the US for the next 10 years.
I actually think Toby's qualities will be more difficult to replace the Eriksens. His passing range and ability on the ball is massively important to how we operate as far as the full backs are concerned.

Does anyone happen to know anything about this lad 'Suso' we've been linked with over the last few days?

Wasn't really sure where else I should ask

Also He considered to be Homegrown player for Premier and Associated Trained player for UCL too

He’s a bit of water carrier type, but all good teams need some of them to allow the Reuses and Sanchos to do their stuff. We’ve got Dier, Sissoko to some extent. I think the sort of midfielder we need has to to have some magic to him to add another dimension to our game.
I'm inclined to agree with you but I'm not sure Poche wants anything other than "water carriers" in CM. I think every player he's played there since he's been with us has been more about hard work and physicality than anything else. Perhaps the only one who wasn't was Bentaleb, and he didn't last long!

That said, Rabiot and/or Lobotka would (apparently) be a step up in terms of all round ability (although Winks is a hell of a player as well).

I'll be doing an updated list shortly, chaps, but wanted to add a little info on homegrown players, as I've had to research it for the purposes of this thread, for those who might not be totally aware:

First off, it's worth noting that the Premier League and UEFA have slightly different rules regarding homegrown 'quotas', which I'll cover in a moment.

But first we'll start with what the definition of a homegrown player is. A homegrown player is one who was eligible to play for an English or Welsh FA associated club for at least 36 months between their 15th and 21st birthdays.

The higher level rules for both the PL and UEFA state that in every 25 man squad, eight places must be reserved for homegrown players. For every reserved place that goes unfilled, the overall squad size is reduced by one. So if you only have seven homegrown players, the maximum squad size is 24, if you have no more than 6, the maximum is 23, etc.

Sidebar: It's worth noting also that the FA has proposed that the maximum number of non-homegrown players in a squad be reduced to 13, which would then require a minimum of 12 homegrown players in squads. And likewise with the current rules, if you can only name 11 homegrown players, squad is reduced to 24, 10 HG becomes squad of 23, etc.

Now, here's where there's a slight divergence:

UEFA state that of the eight homegrown reserved slots, there can only be a maximum of four 'association-trained' players. An 'association-trained' player is one who has met the required 36 months at an English or Welsh-affiliated club before the age of 21, but who didn't spend those 36 months in the registering club's own youth structure.

So if, for instance, we wanted to register the following eight players: Rice, Brooks, Sancho, Pope, Chilwell, Skipp, K Sterling, & KWP (ignoring the U21 rule), although we could name them all in our PL squad, we would have to drop one of the first five from our CL squad because while being products of English / Welsh FA-affiliated clubs, they weren't trained in our youth system.

Hope that makes things clearer and is of use to those who may not have fully understood the rules.

EDIT: Some of the players I named above could still be registered as U21s, I just pulled five names out of the hat for illustrative purposes.

Dunno we seemed to cope pretty well in the 4th months he was out last season.

A lot of buzz surrounding another RB Leipzig player, this time the young US midfielder, Tyler Adams. Didn’t catch his debut a few weeks back, but reportedly he was outstanding playing as a holding midfielder vs Fortuna Düsseldorf.

I've mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago, but I think that market (the teenage North American kids in MLS facilities) is the next market we should be looking at if we are looking at relatively cheap talent to develop and sell-on with the occasional hit. I think there's currently a market inequity there that won't be there for long. Almiron going to Newcastle might be the one that breaks the transfer fee dam but you had the Tyler Adams (RBL), Weston McKennie (Schalke), Alphonso Davies (Bayern) types went for cheap to Bundesliga (the Pulisic route), and Tim Weah who went cheap to PSG (currently on loan to Celtic). Just a few examples but at the very least we could have bought them up for cheap and sold them for profit after a few years.

I was really impressed with Suso when we played Milan in the summer. He looked so sharp and creative.

Wonder if there's a possible swap deal to do with Lamela...

Good idea that. Suso looks a good player and I'm starting to think, much as I appreciate what Erik's done, that we might need some fresh ideas in that position

Lamela is in the same boat as Dier with me. Great squad players and players who's passion for the club I love, but also players I think we can upgrade upon.

Doesn't mean a move can't happen, but Suso has declared himself and his family are very happy in Milan and he's hoping a contract extension can be negotiated.

Spurs are however meant to have held talks in London with representatives of Joachim Andersen Sampdoria earlier in the week

He certainly seems to be the popular name in the rumor section for the Toby replacement.

I mentioned this in the match thread, but of all the Americans I'm most excited about Josh Sargent, who is 18 and playing for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. He has shown a knack for scoring goals at every level. For the US U17 he scored 25 in 44 matches, for the U20 4 in 5 matches and for the senior team 2 in 6. He started with Werner's reserve team, and promptly scored 7 in 12 matches. He was called up to the first team and scored as a substitute with his very first touch, and has scored another as a substitute with about 6-7 matches under his belt. Here is his second goal for Werner, which shows some nice hold up play, awareness to get behind the defense, and a left-footed near post finish.

I like Lamela, but when you put together his injury record, his ups and downs in form, his age, and the fact he's still somewhat admired in Italy, it seems a no-brainer do a deal there.

- Pavard has agreed to join Bayern in the summer.
- Why would Liverpool sell us Robertson?
- Dombele will cost £50/60m+, and will probably join City.
- De Ligt, see Dombele.
- Bale is almost 30, is very injury prone, and will cost a fortune in fee and wages.
- Arp, like Pavard, has agreed to join Bayern.

I’d love us to sign Brooks should Eriksen leave. Will probably cost £40/45m, but he’s a realistic target.
They were examples of the level of players we need as I said “not that we’d get them” of course Liverpool wouldn’t sell us Robertson but that is an example of the level we need our LB to be etc.

I don’t agree with that at all. We have a pretty accomplished ball playing CB in Foyth, albeit less defensively capable.

Eriksen is one of the worlds best creative players. They are incredibly difficult to find and to buy.

The Eriksen conundrum - that being, re-signing him or replacing him - is the single most important issue of the summer IMO
