That loss to Palace means we get a 9 day break before Burnley. Blessing in disguise perhaps.

I think I’m more pissed about losing to palace than Chelsea. I know it was a semi but the FA cup means so much more to me than the carabo. And in all likelihood we’d have lost to city. Beating Watford West Ham Arsenal chelsea City seems like such a massive effort for such a undistinguished trophy. I think the fact it changes it’s name every 3 years devalues it even more. If it was still called the league cup it might seem moe important. With the way the FA cup has thinned out I’m pretty gutted we are out. But that game came at the worst possible time. It’s so hard to do a carabo semi in January and not let it damage other opportunities. I think Chelsea will really pay for getting to the final, another high intensity game and be a game behind in league. Which could see them 13 pts behind us after next weekend. Unless you have an exceptional squad like city the carabo is a massive burden.

I understand why Poch rested players for that game - middle game of a stretch of 5 games in 14 days with three of his best players out. Had Kane, Alli and Son all been available in that span I think he'd have put a better side out.

You have to have the vision, my friend.

They are a threat.

Keep watching.

We can continue this conversation in a few weeks.
Are you ready to continue the conversation now, or are you prepared to concede that the Scum are shit and are no threat to us?

I'm hoping Bayern get a good result against Liverpool, preferably a win.

The more doubt and pressure that creeps in the better.

Scum are now exactly where I suggested they would be - fighting for 4th.

The very pleasant surprise is we are doing much better than I thought we would be at this stage.

Expected us to be hovering around there with them.

Also, I'd advise against getting cocky with a 10 point lead.

13+ I'd get me balls out a bit, but I've seen too many 10 point gaps dissipate in this league to start largin' it.

Yeah, hope so. If the only thing left for Liverpool is the title, the pressure will be tenfold. Also they had nearly two weeks' break because they are out of the FA Cup and returned to a lacklustre draw against Leicester. I think that was down to having too long to think about the next game.

I agree.

Yet, we are 5 points behind Pool and not in the title race...

I actually said we will finish at least 6 points ahead of them , and youre quite right I wont large it just yet I will wait until the end of the season and large it big time then. BTW i still stick to what II said back in September they are shit and will not be a challenge to us, and their performance last night exemplifies this. Pure and utter shit.

They also can’t take it easy next Thursday and have to play Aubameyang for the 90 minutes as only striker available and need the win. Then face a fully rested Southampton 3 days later fighting for their lives. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them not win that. Chelsea also have to take their 2nd leg relatively seriously just 3 days before carabo final. Europa will do for both of them. Be amazed if United don’t get 4th.

Reminds me when I used to have countless debates with other fans saying that Spurs should be walking the Europa League every year when in truth the competition isn't easy, it's an absolute slog and it hinders your domestic season.

We had more than enough chances to beat palace too. Sure it wasn’t a great performance but we could have got something out of the game.

I actually think we are a better team when playing every 3/4 days. It’s when we have the breaks that we come back a bit slow. Remember the last couple of season when we’ve gone to Barcelona for a few days, I’m sure we’ve come back and had a disappointing result straight away after. Not saying it will happen this time though obviously.

I think Dele will be back for Burnley though. There was a training video he posted yesterday and the training he was doing looked pretty full on for a bloke with a dodgy hamstring. No contact but enough exercises to really test out a problem.

We drew at Southampton 1-1, however there was a flu bug they all caught in Barcelona (Eriksen missed out because of it). It felt like a bad blow for CL at the time too. Classic Spurs.

Well, in the past when we got cocky , it was due to the complacency factor that 'we got away and will finish in 4th spot'.
Currently, 10 points gap is very very different. None of the players, coaching staffs are now looking at Chelsea, Arsenal or United. I bet most of us,fans, also only looking up the table for the right reasons

Yep the players are definitely logging into SC, reading the comments and thinking top 4's in the bag, let's relax

The Arsenal resurgence you smelled never really came to fruition though. They are and have been all season a very unbalanced the with no depth whatsoever.

I dont think anyone really said that. Whats been said is only 'We look up and not down' Thats not saying top4 is in the bag.

And yet we have a smaller gap above us than below. If it was the other way round, sure I could understand looking below us and worrying. However, we can cut the gap to two points before the top two play again. One of them at Old Trafford.

I don't think it's time to disregard Arsenal in the race for top four, they won't catch us, none of them will but the other two are not safe.
Having said that I am not necessarily backing them this year, however I do think they are doing right thing, unlike Chelsea they didn't just go out and hire the latest name manager to get them into the CL and unlike United they weren't blinded by the romance of an old star coming back to save them as United may well do this summer so watch then next year and beyond.
