Would it be a stretch to say that Levy knew well in advance that the stadium wouldn’t be ready for this season, so didn’t want to shake up the squad in what would be a turbulent season at Wembley...Summer 2019 was always the plan because we’d definitely be in and settled at NWHL?

Or it could be that Pochs project is a couple of seasons ahead of schedule and the transfer plan was always to heavily invest in the summer of 2019 once the stadium was up, running and generating the money needed to attract the next level of player we need.

Just makes no sense. So looks like another very unsettled start to the next season.
One thing to note is that our core essentially won't be unsettled Kane, Alli, Son, Rose, Lloris, Vertonghen, Sissoko, Winks, etc. That's important, if the core is replaced that's when the bedding in period becomes much tougher. Those players already have coheesion. The new players could be phased in with less stress.

Question on Twitter to: @jetsetyid not strengthening the squad or improving on certain weak areas can’t have been the plan going into the last two windows can it?

Answer:
@jetsetyid No but also wide spread changing of team wasn’t in the plan either

If we could have lost a few and brought in the right players to replace we would have but Committee not going to panic buy.

This summer and 19/20 season was always the plan for new players for many reasons.
That was said for the last summer and this season too. They have to sell expensive season tickets.

Let’s hope there are some good players available in the summer or that we’ve already done the groundwork.

Yeah I know......

In hindsight, having the stadium ready for the beginning of the season was veeeeery optimistic. Levy isn't a builder but he must have had his suspicions I would have thought.

I can’t believe we didn’t see Chelsea trolling us. Why would they do that to a fellow London club who are both helping each other achieve champions league football and keep those darstadly Goonies out of it again?? I’m flummoxed???

"We aren't going to panic buy" should be emblazoned on a literal strawman in the middle of NWHL. Noone with half a brain wants us to panic buy. We want the club to take a strategic approach and spend wisely. Letting the squad stagnate for 18m is not such an approach.

There is some probable truth to the medium to long term view, but even for me it's all a bit too convenient.

Still, if we get at least one more season under the guidance of Poch in the new stadium with players he wants (bring on the optimistic ratings) then I'll say fuck it, count me in.

Would agree and I rather they just come out and say as much instead of the not going to effect the transfer budget, we will sign the player if they are there

I agree mate. I accept that funds are limited and we are a club in transition.

We were told several years ago that there was a dual transfer policy. Buy top players when they're available and also buy players who were young and for the future.

That has failed massively on both fronts. I'm a realist and if money has dried up for big signings then fair enough but we haven't bought a young player on the up since Dele.

All i want is honesty and i just feel we're being lied to at the moment.

I heard you say that the other day, and I thought "Oh, he used one of my catchphrases".

I don't mind influencing a young comedian (you're not a comedian) but I usually credit someone if I use their comedy.
I remember Jasper Carrot using this gag around about 1980.
Is your real name Bob Davis?

My concern with our summer business was the possible mass exodus, if we manage to keep Poch another season I'll be overjoyed, Eriksen situation goes beyond our summer business imo, unsure on Alder but if we can keep the core of our team, it will be like we are getting a do-over
As ever, Poch will be the key. For all the times I hear people either lavish or sneer at Levy about being a 'business man' I certainly hope he knows how vital Poch is to us.

We'll see.

I would love to think we are keeping all our pocket money for a big Summer and i'll probably believe up until this time in the summer transfer window. I just can't see it happening and will be the same excuses again. can dream I guess, maybe are next manager will love VJ up front

Well my opinion is we need to do a bit of a chelsea (just swallowed my own vomit) and scoop up a few of these young players and then loan them out, they will either kick on (as an example brooks) and we can bring them back or we can sell them for a profit, pretty much like Liverpool did with Solanke.
It would be a start. As long as we have the intention if trying them. But I do see a couple of issues with that. 1. We would essentially need these players immediately as we won't be signing both young players for loan AND for the squad 2. What message does it send to our academy?Poch has stated he wants to use it.

I didn't think I was being particularly niche with the quote I literally lifted wholesale but apparently no one else watched BBC Two in 2001.

Yeah I'll reserve judgement on Levy until I know for certain that Poch is sticking around and also how much over budget the stadium is and how that will affect our ability to compete on the pitch, he will have to take responsibility for that.

Let's hope we hang on to 4th then or we could struggle in the summer.
