My post had a sarcastic tone in my head - I'd be 100% behind Levy. We are blessed to have a youth product who is one of the best players in the world and plays in the most expensive position. No player at the club should be earning more than him. I don't even think anyone that's not an established star player should be coming in on more than Dele and Son get now (allegedly about £150k p/w).
I'd argue that we should pay Rabiot's wages but also need to give Harry a raise to maintain top earner status. We haven't used any transfer funds so move that to salaries.

If it was that easy you don't think any other clubs would be interested?
Apparently, Mom is a deal-killer - in more ways than one.

There are only a handful of teams that fit Team Rabiot's criteria - they are stretching if they include us in that group. So, its not like there are a lot of teams in the market for a headache these days.

Other than the putting in "half a shift part" of this: 18 months from now, we sell him for £100M and reinvest in players who want to be here.

This, as much as anything, should be driving Levy to get this deal done.

I'd certainly love to see Levy rake in some cash and reinvest it into the team...but I do seem to remember reading a similar argument about Serge Aurier and how we were going to pick him up for scraps and turn him into a 100m player.

This kid (Rabiot) is literally leaving PSG because he can't beat out Marco Veratti to play in his exact preferred role every single game. He is a walking head case.

There are always opportunities to pick up great players who get squeezed out at big clubs. I'm a fan of Lucas Moura. Isco will be a great signing for someone someday. But PSG let Aurier walk for a reason, and Barca is doing what Barca does for a reason. Lots and lots of signs to be cautious here.

Can we lay off the lazy racist and misogynistic comments about Sissoko’s sexual potency (because he happens to be black) and Rabiot’s mum being subdued by sex (because she’s a woman). She sounds like an absolute loon, agreed, but there are better jokes to make
I was thinking ravishing Mrs. Rabiot would hop in the sack with Lloris, and instantly snap his member off, making him the latest player to join Spurs Ladies team...

By all accounts, Isco is for sale. We should absolutely go and get him.

It’s a bit more creative, I’ll give you that. If you can get the noun phrase french horn in there, it’d get a Michael from me

Maybe we can't sign anyone in January because there's no guarantee of CL football quite yet?

Rabiot will want to play CL football, or his mummy will want him to at the very least.

You're absolutely right and we've been stung before with these types of deals. Adebayor was great in the short term but, surprise surprise, as time went on his attitude proved to be a joke and he was a nightmare to get rid of.

However, given our unique position, we have to hustle and take some risks in the market. If Poch can work his magic, Rabiot could be a coup. I mean, look how well Poch handled Osvaldo at Southampton.

Oh wait...

Players (and agents) don't care about CL football - its the money they care about...

Barca could still be looking at him as far as we all know. But perhaps a loan to end of season may either convince him to be at the club... if not he may play with a point to prove which could help us secure top 4 or even a trophy?

Release clause in summer if we don't qualify for champions league. Maybe double what we pay PSG now.

Doubt PSG would allow a loan if it's not with a mandatory buy at the end.

If it all goes to shit, we can sell him to WBA for 40 million in a year or two

I can't see PSG agreeing to a loan here.

I think they would rather force Rabiot to sit out until next year rather than take a nominal loan fee for 3+ months

Doesn’t work like that I wouldn’t imagine. Salaries are an ongoing overhead cost a transfer fees kinda ‘capital expenditure’
