I made a brief guide as to how to respond to any player the ITK link us to:

  • Promising young player in the lower leagues - Not ambitious enough a signing.

  • Promising young player at a weaker team in the Premier League - Just a flash in the pan. A big fish in a small pond, will get found out at a bigger club and will cost too much money for what they're worth.

  • One of the better players at a weaker team in the Premier League - Why has no other big club ever taken a punt on them? Must be something wrong with him.

  • The above, but when a rival has expressed an interest in signing them - Well that ship has sailed, will cost too much now and we'll never be able to compete on wages. Should have signed him two years ago when we had the chance.

  • Reserve player at a team in the top 6 - I don't want their rejects, why are we taking their deadwood off their wage bill?

  • First team player at a team in the top 6 of the Premier League - They'd never sell to us, forget it.

  • Promising young player abroad - Who? Never heard of him. Let's wait and see if he toughens up first, don't want any more Jonathan Blondels.

  • Older, more experienced player - Are we a retirement home now? Clearly finished at the top level, why don't we get someone hungrier?

  • Good young player abroad starting to make a name for themself - How do we know he'll even settle in England? If you made youtube compilations of our players they'd look just as good, if Harry's name was Horatio Winksinho people would rate him way higher than this guy.

  • Once promising young player that can't break into the starting XI of a big European club - Why can't he get into their team? Clearly nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. I saw him come off the bench for 10 minutes in a game once and he didn't do anything. No thank you.

  • Good player available on a bosman - MERCENARY. Will fuck us the first chance he gets. Stay away.

  • Big name player proven at a top team - Well that's clearly never going to happen, his agent is only using us to bump up the wage offers from others. Clearly we're wasting time with this one.

  • Maybe we won't sign anyone - What the fuck are we doing? Levy out.

Quite frankly I have no idea why we can't find anyone good enough to play for Tottenham within our budget.
Love this but you forgot to add:

Club wavers over a few million quid for player that may/may not strengthen us and loses the initiative. Shit gets lost on SC. Many of us wake up in the early hours feeling oppressively hollow and unfulfilled

Should be LOOKING at both options.

And we probably are looking at both options. It doesn't mean that both will happen.

we need one now not in a few weeks, Son returns in 2 weeks, our acute need is right now.

"in the next couple of weeks" as in the window closes in two weeks. We're not going to rush out and just sign anyone to fill the void, we'll try and find the best option we can which won't happen overnight even if we do have a list of players that we're looking at. Llorente can play up front at the weekend against Fulham or against Chelsea in the semi which are the immediate concerns. I'm sure we can find a solution to a couple of games until we bring someone else in. If Kane and Son had both been out at any other time in the season we'd find a way round it so I'm sure we can cope for now.

Truly brilliant, I hope the people that have been rolling out the "never gonna happen" line are reading this and feeling a bit silly.

We all know that we didn't sign anyone in the summer but honestly the way our fans go on you'd think we hadn't signed anyone for about 5 years.

Obviously people don't want to get their hopes up but none of us actually know what's going on but we can at least talk about it, seeing as that's kinda what a forum is all about.

There's just no need for constant negativity IMO.

With Sissoko now out for a month, Son away for weeks and Kane out until March, our glaring squad inadequacies are suddenly laid bare.

I really hope some of these potential deals start moving quickly.

As much as I'm excited by the prospect of Werner, pretty much everyone can agree that there is little to no chance Levy pulls it off, especially this window.

But despite that, we still have this rather serious issue with our midfield that we are only weakening with the sale of Dembele. I still can't help feel we will end up with no one this window and a lot of shoulder shrugging.

It would not suprise me if Werner already signed with Bayern and they're keeping it quiet, exactly the same like they did with Lewandowski before. Its optimistic we're looking at the right players like him, De Ligt or De Jong, lets keep it that way and maybe we may be able to complete one out of ten or so. This plus picking distinctive players from Championship is exactly what we should do.

I get what you're saying but I'd like to think there are some players inbetween.
