If there's still anyone out there who doesn't think this is a hundred times better than international friendlies I don't understand any more.

I know Trippier is not flavour of the month but doesn't make me furious watching him like it does watching Kyle walker.

We missed his set pieces as well.

I think most of the criticism was like "what? still more games"? If this can replace the equal number of meaningless friendlies, most will take to it.

It's great. It feels like the world cup again. The down side is that makes me want to get on the beers which isn't great as i spent the whole summer drunk.

Yep, there's not a single match more being played because of this. We've had two international games a month in Sept/Oct/Nov for ages, it's just that beforehand it would have been two friendlies and four qualifiers (likely three of them against rubbish in a non-competitive group) rather than two friendlies and the four Nations League games. And now those qualifiers will take the spaces that would previously have gone to friendlies during 2019.

I don't normally praise Liverpool players, but I was incredibly impressed with Joe gomez today. Calm and assured defender.

He's a class act and him and Stones is the England centre back partnership for years to come. Little bit of inexperience from them for the goal today but they'll learn. Intelligent lads and fantastic footballers.

Theres a England starting 11 that should be forming in Southgates head.

What does that mean? Southgate has a plan and he's been rewarded this year by sticking to it and picking players that suit the way he wants to play.

Maguire is a great option to have as well - especially if we ever utilise a back 3.

Yep. Said it in the pub, although it is a weird way to do things the last 15 mins was exciting and we felt like we'd won something in the end. If we'd have felt the same if we lost, i doubt it. But bring on the knockouts.

Might watch Switzerland vs Belgium at 7.45 tonight now. If the Swiss win by 1-0, 2-1 or any 2+ goal margin, they qualify ahead of Belgium.
