If they are doing that for 'resale purposes', why is it that the long term season ticket holder that runs the place hasn't sold up? DL has always said that his modus operandum has been to make sure the club is sustainable - something that it wasn't, and hadn't been since several decades prior.
ENIC’s intention since day one has been to sell once they built a new stadium and that is what they are actively trying to do now. The club has been on the block at £2bn all summer, they just aren’t finding any takers at that price and quite frankly as fans we should be petrified if they do because any owner paying that is going to have to sweat the asset in a massive way and that means wringing out more money from us not putting assets on the pitch.

I take it you mean once they got permission to build it? lucky for them permission was granted, and hopefully lucky for us that the new stadium just might 1 day take us too another level.

the thing is the whole NPD is meant to be costing a billion, but we are not that much in debt, so over the 17 years they have been with us, every penny taken in through the fans is there money at the end of the day, because they own the club, just like every business in the world, the money they make is there money, after the fans have contributed, just like if you buy tickets for a cinema once you pay it's that companies money.

if we now have such a big debt especially due to cost rising, no way will ENIC sell for 2b without that debt needing to be cleared 1st, and for someone as clever as Levy, he will know the only way to keep the club at that value is to make sure we are a product that's worth selling. I think we are stuck with ENIC until the debt is cleared and the NPD is completed which is a lot more years than "ONCE", or they will take a massive hit on the profit they hoped to make.

I doubt it to be honest, but if he isn't it will be due to walking rather than being sacked, but if he isn't and Levy doesn't find someone that can get and keep us in the CL, that will make it even longer before they can sell, or they definitely won't get the 2b they want.

the new stadium will lose so much money if we aren't in the CL, because they will have to reduce the price of season tickets big time, most probably lose out on match days too, and they won't ever have a full stadium in the EL unless it's v a big team and in the QF or semi's

I really hope Levy is worried about the Pochettino situation, because if he doesn't do something in January and we do lose out at the end of the season, I wouldn't blame Poch for walking

I am not sure he is, this summer showed that to a certain degree.

It looks like they are not so concerned about the long term or the on pitch success - stadium almost complete / manager and star player on long term contract. Set up nicely as a package to sell the club for a huge profit and get out asap.

The reason enic invest in infrastructure is to increase the value of the club for potential buyers end of. If they put in "their own" money they expect a financial return on that investment.

Luckily for us there is lots of overlap between what gives success on the pitch and what make us an attractive club to buy.

It is a fact, ENIC haven’t put in any money after they bought the club other than a highly dubious share issue where they totally screwed the minority shareholders, some of whom were willing to buy out ENIC. There is ample “evidence” you know things like accounts filed with Companies House to show all the capital investments have been funded by cash flow from operations I.e. payments by the fans - whether in person or armchair - and latterly a large amount of debt.

What about the new training ground and stadium that probably cost upwards of 1 billion?

That'll be the Sheik Mansour that is "prepared to spend that considerable wealth on footballers", but not to buy a Stadium?

£800m+ difference in investment that you're ignoring there

He chose not to build a new stadium?!! How dare he!! City fans must be in uproar! Fancy being forced to watch the likes of Silva, DeBruyne and Aguiro lift the PL trophy whilst sat on a cheap plastic seat! That's disgraceful!!
Do you think sustainability for a football club resides exclusively in the building of a new stadium? If that were an imperative, don't you think every other premier league club would be doing the same as a matter of urgency?
The very last thing I'm doing is "ignoring the difference in investment"! Don't you view spending money on FOOTBALLERS as investment? Yes, that Sheikh, the one "prepared to spend his considerable wealth on footballers", knowing that the "only" return on his investment might be titles or trophies or accolades or even just breathtaking football; (you know, the stuff true fans actually yearn for) but has no tangible quantitative value and correspondingly is of no real interest to an investment company because such "stuff" has no resale value; certainly not in the way that bricks and mortar in a soon-to-be-gentrified London postcode does.
ENIC want a return on their property investment to the tune of £2 billion. Or do you think Levy is building the NPD for "selfless reasons", out of the goodness of his heart, as an act of charity for the good folk of N17?
True fans don't value our club in terms of a property portfolio. For us, the Club's worth lies in its sporting success, in its footballing excellence, in its heritage, in its style of play, in the quality of footballers who wear the jersey, in the ethos and history of the Club (or at the very least, in trying to aspire to all the above). That's where I'd like to see our considerable TV/Premier League revenue invested: in top footballers who'll wear the badge with distinction. But I guess that's where you and I differ. So you keep eulogising about spreadsheets, and quarterly projections, Donna, while I dream unashamedly of the next Gazza or Ginola or Modric; someone who might help bring us some silverware. Now, if only there were a trophy for Best New Property Development around a football club...I guess for ENIC there is: a £2 billion trophy when they sell our club off. And don't kid yourself that that won't happen well before we'd ever see the fruits of that increased match-day revenue in the form of quality investment in the squad. Let's hope whoever can afford the £2 billion bill, are the type of owners who value sporting success above all else, and will look to prioritise spending on footballers.
I'd love to see us invest £50 million in a Ndombele or a De Jong; you'd probably prefer to see it spent on a microbrewery and hotel complex. Each to their own.

So have we got a 'Moura-special' lined up this January?

By that, I mean a very good player who is bench-warming for a 'mega-club'.

Barca or Real got anyone not getting games?

Hopefully not another signing that will them warm our bench for the rest of the season

this post is so wrong on so many angles, but you really hit a nerve on "True Fans". true fans mate are fans that will go through thick and thin whether your winning trophies or not. when City where in the slumps they still had a great following, Leeds the same after all their ups and downs, and a lot of the teams in the lower leagues. True fans are fans that get behind the team no matter what.

going by your post you have most probably hated ENIC since the day they took over then, because Joe Lewis never came in and spunked money on the club straight away like Ambramovic did with Chelsea, or the Sheik did with Man C (who never needed to build a new stadium, it was already there) in fact if it hadn't he most probably wouldn't of bought them in the 1st place. Also by the time the Sheik had taken over we was well underway with the NPD even though not in laying bricks. it took the Sheik near on a billion in player investment before he won a trophy (Bought 2008, 1st trophy 2011).

when ENIC 1st took us over in 2001, they had no idea or guarantee a new stadium could be built, or they would of got the ball rolling there and then, we was a mid table team that could never compete with teams that had been earning big money because of SKY and UEFA. 2 years later Abramovic came along and totally blew everyone out the water, not even Joe could compete with that, and 2 seasons later they started plans to get the stadium plan going, which they wasn't given permission for 6years (so that was there only ever goal was it) 10 years in which time 2 people had come in and bought (City hadn't succeeded yet).

in that time we had seen us go from mid table strugglers to a team on the verge getting in the top 4, something we did before City did under the Sheik, and only missed out on Europe once since 2006. we are now a team that's deservedly qualified for CL football for 3 seasons running, thanks to Poch and ENIC for hiring him, and great we have made profits the last 4, but those 5 above us have made them too, on top of the profits they have been making since the PL, SKY and UEFA ruined football.

yes I agree we fucked up the summer window, but doubt Lyon where going to sell a player they had only just bought, doubt we even put a true bid in because at the time he had only had 2 seasons of football, 1 in the top flight of the French league and at the time definitely wasn't worth 50m, 40 more than what Lyon had just paid for, and de Jong wasn't for sale.

you moan every transfer window John, I've been a member here and seen it, yet you seem to forget that we are playing a lot better football under ENIC than we ever did with Sugar, and I bet you was one of the Sugar out protesters. if your only proud of Spurs when winning trophies, I suggest looking in a mirror when typing the word "TRUE"

You just replied to a post you "spammed"!! Odd that! ? Care to explain that away? (You know, like you try to do for every signing we miss out on)
I have no idea what the hell you've on about, other than its your usual barely-coherent ramblings about Sugar, and how things were so much worse 15 years ago. Yeah, thanks for that! Anyway, do you think we'll actually sign someone this winter? Especially as you're always telling us how hard it is to sign a footballer.

the trouble is everytime someone suggest a player, the same old moaners pipe up with we won't buy anyone because of "ENIC". pretty boring and to then accuse those that don't think we can buy trophies, as not being "TRUE FANS" @[email protected] are taking the piss
