Tbh, though I’m no fan, without knowing what these personal reasons are I’m gunna hold back on the digs. He could be going through some dark shit for all I know in which case I’d wish him well.

He says he just wants to spend more time with his family, which I guess is fair enough. (Same link.)

I dunno. Don’t buy it. Not saying family had no part in his decision but it seems odd to give up on your international career at 28 a year before the World Cup. During a normal non WC year you’re talking 8 games per year. Did that extra time away really put extra strain on his family? Maybe. It’s an honourable thing I suppose but I think there’s a thing or 2 behind the scenes we don’t know about.

If it is then fair play to him. Can’t say he’s a loss to world rugby so fuck him. Lol.

Just cracked open a nice Rioja I’ve been saving for a special occasion. Just need Brown to follow suit in the next few hours and it will become the best day of my life. More so than our grand slam wins, meeting the mrs and the birth of my 2 kids.

"Wanting to spend more time with the family" just means "I don't want to talk about it in public".

He withdrew from the England squad recently for 'personal reasons' so I hope for his sake that nothing has happened within his family that triggered it.

A shame for England as other than Mako England are not blessed in the prop department.

Hopefully it means I'll get to see him a lot more for Quins though.

Oh dear, Freddie Burns.

When you've trotted across the line, 2 points behind and 5 minutes left, ball in hand; just put it down, mate.

Faletau breaking his arm a week before this game wasn’t ideal for Bath either. But yeah unforgivable by Burns

The smile across his face just before it happened too. Lol.

Hilarious when it happens to a team you don’t support not so funny when it’s your team.

I can also laugh at it because that particular cock-up doesn't feature in my memory of all the damn stupid things I did on a rugby pitch!

Brilliant win off the Wigan Warriors ! Dom Manfredi outstanding !!!;

I read the Wigan coach is leaving to join Scotland. To be fair while league players rarely adapt to the far superior form of the sport in union they have contributed some good coaches.

So I believe. Andy Farrell and Shaun Edwards Jonathan Edwards are three I only got interested in Rugby League when moved up to the NW. I never did like Union. League is quicker and easier to follow! Some league players switch to Union but then return. Don't know any RFU players whove switched codes. Money/contracts the reason maybe?

I think most league players switch to union because of the money. That and because league is really boring, obviously.

The average league player tends to have more skills than the average union player. Lot fitter too due to the faster game. More league players take to union far better than the other way round too I’d suspect.

I prefer Union though. More to it basically. It’s a game for everyone, all sizes etc
You’d never ever see a fat league player for example!

I think you’re slightly contradicting yourself here how can union, in your words, have more to it, yet league players are more skilful?

I’d seriously question the fitter thing too. Stronger, perhaps, on the whole but imo union players tend to be a lot more skilful as the game is more complex and they’re just as fit if not fitter.

General ball skills/hands, that’s what I meant. Not the intricacies of the set piece of course, I’m talking basic playing skills.
League players are undoubtedly fitter on average, by a distance too. Union has a fair amount of breaks and stoppages etc, it’s obviously more power based too so the players will tend to be bigger overall, reducing fitness.

As I say I prefer Union because it has more to the game. I have huge respect for League though
