Just watched the whole game again and first off what a fantastic game. Considering the first 2 minutes it was a great performance by us. We easily could have crumbled at 2-0. And 2nd half gave as good as we got. Definitely best I’ve seen Kane for ages. Might be very very simplistic, but maybe he simply doesn’t like hot weather lol. Were some great bits from Winks as well. I’ve somewhat swayed my thinking on our CM. I definitely think winks and dembele can do a decent job to January at least. For me the real issue is DM. Wanyama and dier just both look so so cumbersome. I’m just not sure if you can be built like they are and be mobile enough to play CM to high level. For me we need more energy pace and agility at DM. Need to get away from this thinking if someone is built like a brick wall nobody will get by them. I’m actually struggling to think of any great world midfielders that are built like that.

For me, I wasn't expecting anything other than a defeat when it became apparent that those four players were missing. Barcelona at the weekend rested players for what they saw was their biggest test to date in the CL, where we didn't have the luxury to do so.
We are stuck at the minute with players whom the Manager clearly doesn't want nor they have shown any sort of capability at performing under him.
We had the misfortune to play Barcelona at the wrong time, because of the injuries we had encountered, but it so underlines the need to push on from the crossroads of being stuck in the mud when it comes to signings, identify the players you need and push on with signing them.
We can't be having the likes of Sissoko, Lorrente etc sitting on the bench as an option if we are open to improving our squad, its simple as push on or give up trying. It whether levy & co have the capability to push on is the question.

This is all very disconcerting, I'm getting the impression tha some people are laying the blame for the defeat on Sissoko, if so that is fucking ridiculous, as it happens I thought he was ok when he came on, he has had shit for the last goal but he did at least make himself available and we shouldn't have been in that situation anyway. However even if he'd come on and was as bad as many people want to think he was the defeat wasn't down to him.

Sissoko gets pelters for everything. It's just as well BC isn't on here anymore. Deserving of a moan for his part in the 4th goal tho. V poor. Having said that, all balanced out by his earlier "attempt" on goal for me. Right up there with Geoff Thomas and his take on a "dink" finish for England. Now have two locked in Wembley memories to keep me all warm and fuzzy during the impending dark and cold winter nights.

I also watched the game again. And second half really was a feast of football. We matched them. Scared them even. But mistakes against this team results in a goal. And we made 2 at least for the first and 4th.

Having said that. And it may be clutching at straws. The Ball was out for the second goal and Suarez was offside for the 4 goal. Not sure as he didn’t touch it is he considered interfering with play? It resulted in a goal.

Thought we played really well second half. Once we got to grips with them. Could easily been a different story with our full team out. Lots of positives from that game. Didn’t feel like it last night. But on retroaction. We were good.

As soon as I’m child-free and have a couple of hours I’m watching it again uninterrupted. The second half was gripping but I’d like to see it again in a calmer state of mind

We've lost games to Watford, Inter, Liverpool and Barca, all of whom have had very good starts to the season. In each game, we may have either drawn or won, despite well-known issues resulting from how far our players went in the world cup and the relative lack of a preseason.
Hazard went just as far and had just as little preseason and he’s on fire. Your comments are actually starting to sound more and more delusional as the weeks go on fella.

The issue I think people on here are correctly concerned about is that as a team we are and have been so so poor compared to the other teams in the PL who had as many players who played at the World Cup. You can’t possibly ignore that can you???

Poch is making very obvious mistakes and the players don’t look happy. We were arguing amongst ourselves against Barca for Christ’s sake. That is not a good sign when you look at our poor form and Poch’s super awkward post match interviews where he’s clearly fibbing when he says he’s proud of the players. He knows we’re poor too - but he doesn’t know how to stop it and it is showing more and more.

Barcelona is Barcelona. Unless we had Man City strength and depth we had very limited chance of getting anything out of that match with Messi in that kind of form. Buying Grealish and De Jong in the summer wouldn't have automatically meant we earned the right to roll over one of the best teams in the world.

barca also haven't done shit all in europe for a number of years, are in a terrible run of form in the league and arguably as good as any of our top rivals in competition so the dick sucking i've seen on here is just confusing

You need both types depending on the opposition you meet. But having someone in the same ilk as Kante would've been great. Winks isn't that type of player from what I've seen.

We're good enough to get in the champions League but Not good enough to play in it if that makes sense!

Losing to Barcelona makes us not good enough to be in the CL? Then most teams in the world isn't good enough and the CL should be canceled.

It felt at the stadium tonight that people turned up to watch Messi and Barcelona than us in all honesty. There was a moment where a few spurs fans applauded Barcelona play - that pissed me the fuck off.

Why would that piss you off? At one point I did clap something Messi did. I wanted us to win and I sang and shouted as much as anyone, however it doesn't mean I can't appreciate good football from other player and teams.

Reality check of a match. Properly showed where Tottenham is and is not at this point.

Yes agreed although one day in the future we maybe good enough which is something to look forward to I suppose.
And yet, we've smashed Real Madrid, and two brain farts aside, we matched Barcelona... With a full strength side, on form, we are as good as anyone we play, and we've proven it to ourselves countless times this last few seasons.

Poch talks about being brave and having belief... He's talking about us as much as his team. We ARE at that level now, and we have to believe it. What we're discovering is that staying at this level is even harder than getting here.

Belief in the stands creeps down into belief on the pitch.

Yes we did beat Madrid surprising everyone by topping the group unbeaten it was a fantastic experience, but I wouldn't say we matched them as at 2-0 they backed off and thought we were toast they even hit the post twice so let's not dress it up.
At the moment we are a bit away from last year's team with players out of form or doing stupid things and the team also looks a bit of a mess if I'm honest, but can we come back to how we were yes of course but I think this season will be tougher as evidenced already with the club possibly going out of the CL by Christmas which is a shame.
All is not lost the club sits fourth In the league whilst looking slightly disjointed but if they keep plugging away then who knows what they can do or where they can finish even if it's unlikely that we can finish higher than where we are now.
