Need to get a second and kill this off. It's certainly been better, the passing has improved, Dier has played better and has sprayed a few nice balls, Dembele has retained possession well and been tenacious and Rose hasn't been great but I think his feistiness as well as his pace serves well against Knockhaert. At least there are some positives.

Still feels like something is missing on the attacking front, and it could be the potency that used to be offered through Kane. I think at our old best we would have peppered this goal a bit more.
I think we have to remember that we were very average here last season - that's mostly down to Brighton's style and set-up.

We have had numerous away performances these last few seasons in which we struggle to break teams down but our mental strength and endurance shows late in the game.

I know he scored but it feels like we’re playing with 10 men when he’s on the pitch. Would sub him off for Lamela and play Son as a striker
It's ridiculous.

He can't run.

Fantastic pen, as always, but without them handing that to us, his first half contribution was poverty.

Win the game lads. Tough place to visit, shit conditions and we got the break we needed. Keep the effort up and get the second goal.

Feel good about yourselves again and get the press to fuck off.

I actually think there has been quite a lot of space to exploit, as Brighton have squeezed space between the midfield lines but left some inviting gaps in behind. Some quick combos and sharp interplay could have you through it and bearing down on goal.

However we just haven't been able to do it, and apart from brief glimpses our possession play has been turgid in the extreme. Yes we're away from home, yes it's raining, yes we're in a difficult moment, but there's been No idea, no purpose to it, just going through the motions.

To invoke the spirit of the late BC, it really isn't helped by the fact the cm2 are just sat so deep in midfield. I don't know about anyone else, but I have lost count of the amount of times our centre backs have stepped forward to take the ball and gone past our cm2 to get it. If the defenders can take it, our midfielders should be 15 yards further up the pitch. The effect is it drags everyone else back, and leaves a massive hole in terms of trying to play through the centre of the pitch. Got to have more ambition.

Fortunately we've been handed a bit of a gift and find ourselves ahead..... Seem to have been saying that a bit in the last few games..... Lets hope we can keep it that way this time. I just hope we are a bit sharper in the second half. Put our minds to it and we can really get at them.

Total control, very little penetration.

We really need to inject a bit more quickness into our play in the final third.

It's tough when teams sit this deep but it's an area we need to improve.

Now we're leading it changes things as they'll push up and leave space.

We'll get more clear cut chances in the second half and we must take one, at least one.

Bring more ruthless is something that still hasn't been addressed properly.

Lucas is dynamite, such a little pocket rocket. Like Aaron Lennon but can play football really really well.

Lets hope the game opens up a bit more. Decent half without many chances. We need to play faster out from the back. Slow tempo game. I think we look decent when we are closer to Brightons goal, but it just takes forever to get up there. Also wouldn’t mind if Dier or Dembele just once msde a run to break the lines.

I can't believe they're actually debating the fucking free kick.
In fairness, after that first half, that's just about the only thing there is to talk about. God forbid pundits accept that they're unnecessary.

Really?? I think when he's been involved he's linked up really well. The problem is we aren't getting the ball into the right areas for him. It'll happen, he'll get back to his peak.

Nice possession and all but we're not really creating anything.

I fear we'll crumble again when Brighton have that spell that every team has
