Imagine sticking a tenner on that...
Mental price for an U-23 game where no-one really knows what the standard of player is, even in a South Korean squad.

No one knows?

You don't think there's anyone that know about the standard of players in an U-23 squad? Players older than Dele Alli, Winks and Sanchez.

Yes, I'm sure the bookies just blindly sat the odds, and that no one has a clue.

Never worth £80m. If he was and someone offered that I'f guarantee Levy would be jumping up and down extremely excitedly uncontrollably wetting himself.

I'd say £40-45m tops

If you think Levy would accept £40-45m for Son then you have no idea who our chairman is.

Its bad enough that everyone else’s fans underrates Son, why are we joining in with them? Jesus. If Son was available at that price, you’d have all the top clubs creamjng themselves. Try double.

Remember, Mahrez went for like £60m. Sonny is younger and better.

All about opinion.
Very frustrating player. First touch often appalling. Blows hot and cold.

I'm sorry but that could be levelled at any winger in the world. Any player with the exception of Ronaldo and Messi will blow cold on occasion. Hazard, Neymar, Bale have all been accused of inconsistency. Son is worth closer to 80m than 40m (if you take the possible military service out of consideration). How highly you rate a player is opinion but his market value isn't.

Yeah, and they'll 99 % be going through no matter result, but would be quite worrying if they can't beat Malaysia.

It is a game every 2 days though in the tournament so if they can rest players in games they will. Was a gamble that failed. Will still go through but does make knockouts harder. That said they are favourites to win the whole thing so should be able to beat anyone

How on earth can you not take into account the possible military service when valuing a player.
Perhaps I am overvaluing him with that hanging over him.
I think Son is decent but falls short on so many things. Not sure any top 4 PL team would be in for him if for sale.

Because the original quote that started the conversation was this:
What a weight off everyone's shoulders it would be if they won it. We'd suddenly have an £80m+ asset on a long contract who absolutely adores the club and its fanbase.

Fingers crossed.

If they are as awful as has been suggested I would be concerned if Son can carry them to glory.

They face Iran next in the knockout stages on Thursday, and even if they win that the strongest team in my opinion is Uzbekistan who won the AFC U23 back in January by beating South Korea 4-1 in the semis and have coasted upto this point.

They are really shit. Son needs to drop very deep to collect balls and to organize. Their midfields and defenders cannot properly pass a ball. Even worse than sissoko.

I looked up Asian Games 2018 BBC
All I found was a story about 4 Japanese baskeball players being sent home after paying for sex.
I suppose it's better than not paying

Surely a South Korea team with Son in it is better than an u23 Uzbekistan team. DId Son play in that 4-1 game?

No he didn't play that game, but would he be enough to overturn the difference? I'm not sure, also Uzbekistan have won 3 out 3, scoring 9 goals, conceding 0, and play Hong Kong next, and would be in better shape if South Korea make it that far. South Korea lost to Malyasia and struggled to beat Krygyzstan and now face Iran.

I am starting to get concerned that he will have to do national service, but before this tournament began I wasn't worried. However the little I've seen of South Korea in this tournament I am now very worried we will lose Son for 2 years. I hope I'm wrong, I would swap a victory at Old Trafford for him to win this tournament.
