Both him and Trippier are much better suited to 3CBs and Davies is better in a back 4. IMO it's about time KWP got at chance at RB - he seems a more steady all round player.
Trippier has just returned from WC and was widely regarded as best RB in the competition. I think he deserves his spot over KWP.

RWB you mean ;)

Still question marks over Trippier at RB but if have him over Serge in that position right now.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've read on here in a long time. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Did he score 2 own goals that I missed or something? Did he literally lose us the game?

I’m not saying he had a stormer but fuck, the way you lot are going on you’d have thought he single handedly lost us the game rather than, just looking at what tangible effect he brought to the result. Which was an assist to go 2-1 up

Anyone saying he did ok was clearly just watching the MOTD highlights he is terrible he is rash, his concentration is non existent and going forward doesn't seem to have a clue what to do, apart from one moment where he got the assist for Dele. There was a point he got the bal just outside the box, he had what seemed like 5 minutes with space all around him and he hit it right into the crowd. Look at Dier's reaction to him when he was trying to tackle Kenedy.

There is a massive difference in a rusty performance and a liability.

Or maybe, just maybe, people have different definitions of shit, awful, terrible etc etc that are different to yours.

Dier has that reaction to anyone around him when he makes a mistake these days - even did it in the world cup. He's turned into the DMC we were expecting when Poch first put him there a few seasons back.

We were incredibly lucky to win the game.

He got exceptionally lucky that Kenedy shat his pants when through on goal to make it 2-2. Comes around on the cover, no danger at all, can either put a foot on it or clear his lines, and instead decides to head a ball that was about at knee height and presents a prime attacking opportunity to the opposition.

There is just too much of this littering a 90 minutes, taking the most ridiculous or wild option, and getting himself and the team into problems. I'm not surprised people are getting tired of it, because he just doesn't seem to be learning. And you have to say that we thought we were getting an established, experienced, international RB in his mid 20's coming into his prime, I don't think the expectation would be on some large-scale development project to get him fitting the bill. We had (have) someone for free who was that already at the club.......

The cross yesterday was a peach and shows he has ability, but very much the anomaly. He's got to settle down and just improve exponentially, because this first year has been far too chaotic.

But we won it nonetheless.

Remind me who put a worldly cross in for Alli to nod into the net?

You know, the goal that won us the game. The one we were really lucky to win

Mate you are picking up the one good thing he done and totally ignoring his vast number of mistakes, he got an assist great, the rest of his game was no where near the standard. I really don't know why you cant see it.

Is Aurier going to be this season's Sissoko?

He’s going to be amazing according to those who thought he’d be any different after a Poch preseason. It was going to turn him into the best right back in the world if you listen to them.

Not me though, there won’t be a change. He’ll still frustrate.

I’m not saying he was great yesterday. I’m just saying, for me personally, if I’m saying one of our players were awful and a total waste of space they don’t usually play a key role in getting us 3 points.

For me, I don’t care about performance in the opening game of the season I just want 3 points and he was key to us getting that. Did he make mistakes? Obviously. Will he sort them out? I hope so but I’m chalking his game off as one he could’ve done a lot better in but still helped out the team in a key moment of the game.

In other words I’m taking the middle ground on this one, for the time being.

He'll always play like someone playing FIFA who only knows how to slide tackle, but I think his performance was no different to that of Davies (except for the assist). Newcastle's tactics seemed to take advantage of the spaces left by having wingbacks, which make the game difficult for both lads

How was it similar to Davies?

Aurier's first job is to defend, and on that basis he's poor. He's makes the same mistakes over and over again.

He is perhaps the most damning indictment of our scouting system. We knew for at least 6 months we needed to replace Walker and decided Aurier was the guy. I think some blame must lie at Poch’s door as well as it can’t be coincidence we keep buying and being linked with physically strong and technically poor players, that must be coming from him.

Shall we give him more than one match this season before we write him off?

Had he not started this season the way he ended the last, people would have very little to say other than great cross for Dele. But he didn't; he was poor against Newcastle. We saw the full range of Aurier's naff play. Poor is possession, poor positionally, dives in when he should stand off, makes rash last ditch challenges that end in fouls, and now seems to have lost the ability to head the ball.

When he first arrived I put it down to nerves, new surroundings, new faster paced league etcetera. But he showed zero improvement as the season went along. Looks like the summer has made no difference.

Even Sissoko looked better yesterday, and I wasn't sure I'd be saying that.
